That's the government's job, to take care of the people, not to take care of giant corporate conglomerates.
You can't make that stuff up.
Duh!
If you just put your water in the sun for a while, it'll get warm...
or is this just a shot from the hip ??

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
Domestic tranquility (make sure the people are happy).
General welfare (make sure the people are taken care of).
That's right in the preamble of the Constitution.
And the rules it sets up afterward, for taxation, establishing rules of law, are for the purpose as put together in the Preamble, just as it says. "In order to do this, we have made this Constitution with these rules."
If you don't like it, move to Mexico. They don't have a Constitution like this.
:D
Even though you and I don't always agree, you are spot on this deal. I don't believe it's the governments job to "take care of us" but I do think it's the governments job to see to it that large corporations like big oil don't bend us over and drive it home. Some things like oil, natural gas and medical care have no true market because they are things that each and every one of us can't do with out.
I am not of the opinion that government needs to stay out of our lives. I am of the opinion that I pay for those government services and I want them to do a better job at looking out for the best interest of it's citizens.
