so i had a kx100 for awhile, but blew the motor. im starting to ride again and need a new bike. im now too big for a kx100, but not tall enough for a 250/450. i rode my brothers cr250 quite a bit over the weekend and held my weight against my friends really well for not riding in a year and being on a 250 two stroke after only riding about 10 times all together on a wayyy smaller bike.
anyways my main question is, what should i do? im ready for the power of a 250/450, but not the height. im almost 19 so im basically done growing. any other short riders out there? im 5'4" :/

If I am any taller than you it is not by much. A 250 two stroke seems like a big jump from a 100, but if you can ride it fine. A 125 2ts or a 200ts seem to make more sense. When I drop my bike it is usually when I am going about 2 mph and get in an awkward spot. A 250 is going to be a little more weight when you get in a tough spot. Also a 250 2ts has a ton of power, when you get out of shape the power can make things bad fast.

the seat height on the smaller ktms is just as tall as any other bigger bike. i want the power of a 250 four stroke, but the seat height and weight are big downfalls for me. :/

I am just over 5'4", a little under 120 lbs, and I'm a female. I rode a KX100, then didn't have a bike for several years. I went out and bought a KX250F without ever riding anything larger than a 100 (except the dual sport that I started out on). I like the larger wheels, better suspension, and increased power of my current bike. I have dropped it a few times, including in the mud, and have never had a problem picking it back up. I haven't lowered it any, and I also have not cut the seat down. When possible, I try to find a place with something I can stand on to make it a little easier to start. There is more weight, so it won't be as easy to throw it around as a KX100. Over all though, I'm quite happy with it and it's been fun to ride.
