usgp vs pala

i looked for a thread about this, couldnt find it. i wanted to post my thoughts.

jody wrote a spot on article in mxa a month or so back about the usgp. and to add to it, it was a great event. one of the best races ive ever witnessed, and easily the best ive ever seen a track prepared. props to jody.

im not sure why the ama and youthstream cannot co-exist. it is one of the reasons i see the sport being held back from being mainstream but thats another topic. the guy who runs youthstream is a big believer in a usgp and believes it should be at glenn helen, the real glenn helen...a gnarley gnarley track. again, i just dont understand why the ama should be threatened by the mxgp's.

i for one, am super glad that we here in socal now have a great ama national, a us grand prix, and anaheim 1.

the usgp might have had shit attendance, and rediculous ticket prices but you know what? i had the best time because i was surrounded by nothing but hardcore mx fans and industry people. it was a great crowd to watch an event with.

as for pala, it was a chance for mx sports and the ama to show up glenn helen and they tried very hard to do so. imo there motivated by the wrong reasons. but again, a great event. excellent track and venue. parking was a nitemare but when the new highway is finished that shouldnt be such an issue. and having the casino/hotel right across the street is excellent for post season celebrations, almost as good as vegas sx, only its not vegas.


all in all, both events were great in there own right. i hope one day that all the orgs can work together for the better of the sport rather than cutting each others throat because as great as this years events were, a war between the fim/youthstream and its subordinate (the ama) will eventually do the sport more harm than good, even if it drives them to excel for the short term.
