I think i figured out how some of the teams are getting past sound with uncorked exhaust .I have found that bikes making there peak hp around 12500 and coming on to the rev limiter are very loud the breaking up of the exhaust note actually raises the decibals bringing in the rev limiter softer helps a bit .all the sound testing is done now @ full throttle most of the bike on the best teams have the rev limiters set above 14000 rpm this with a softer limiter coming in helps the riders through the whoops. The 250s make there peak hp numbers between 12500 and 13000 rpm after that point it getts dificult to fill the cylinder enough and hp and pressure drops off and so does the decibal out put some of the teams may be pushing the rev limit even higher and that would explain a few blow ups .A pro rider in most cases has enough self control to shift when the bike quits pulling feeling his own rev limiter remember when bikes did not have them you got a feeling when to shift up.If im right the new rule is a bit flawed and they ether need to just set a given core diameter for all the exhaust and for get about testing which would save them a lot of hassle or start testing @ a set rpm thats more common say around 12000 but that would be hard on the bike also holding it there.Of course this is just a therory untill more testing is done.
