I just threw on some geomax 52's front and rear and was wondering if anybody else has ran them out here.(Out here as in milestone, comp edge, lake elsinore...some freeriding up at stoddard wells et....I feel like i took a chance in the tire section, i just looked for intermediates... but now i'm wondering if i made the right decision. (should i have picked up hardpacks?) dunno.

tyre pro's fill me in.

I Haven't ridden in a year exactly to the day.. I'm going riding saturday to milestone, but i mean are they recommended or would another tyre be a better choice?

52s are technical intermediate-hard tires compared to the 3s which is their intermediate-soft. So I would say you pick the right set. I prefer the 3s but I only ever seem to ride LACR which is sorta sand.

Speaking in terms of Dunlops are riding the same tracks as you are, I honestly prefer their MX32... (now called the MX3S)... The MX52 basically is their hard-packed tire and the 32 is a much better all-around tire.

As for other brands... Pirelli's newest MX32 Pro is a great all around tire and Michelin's newest range of Starcross tires are amazing (plenty to choose from based off your terrain preference).

Personally, I'm not a fan of the mx52 front., Ive ran it a few times. The rear is fine. If I run a Dunlop front, it's the 32.
FYI, when you see the pro's running Dunlop, it's not the same tire that's available to the public..not even made in the same country.

Personally id avoid the mx52 front as well,
Ive given it a try after 51's started losing outside edge blocks, but it loves to try and tuck on you and doesn't really like anything intermediate

MX52 fronts are horrible.

Well, im like a fast beginner, slow intermediate rider im hoping that tyre will give me a good planted and solid feel. (My last front tyre was damn near a ice skate lol )

@thrillbillie does it tuck instead of push? Because i think i can stand a little tucking action.. i just hate when the front end starts to feel like its planted then pushes out.

I run a MX3S/MX32 front and a MX52 rear on the 450. I cant get a 32 to last on the back of the 450.If it gets hardpacked, I end up switching to an M604 rear, but I always run the MX3S on the front regardless of the conditions. It is head and shoulders better that most fronts I've tried recently.

I have been on a mission the past couple years to try out all of the big name tires and I am going to agree with this. Dunlop MX3s or whatever they are called now are great for about 3 rides and are track only or they get fried. The new bridgestones are ok but not really great at anything. The Starcross 5 mediums are great all around tires. The only other tires I will be using moving forward are the Pirelli MX Extra X for when I'm doing more desert riding. Those are also great all around tires that wear like iron.

Ive got it on my 125 and its pretty uninspiring to be honest , unless you like to follow the well used outside lines
Anything else and you need quick reactions to stay off the ground, id avoid and wont purchase again!

Mx3s front. Feels a lot like the old 756 if your familiar with that tire. Good tire at turn in unlike the 52.. Very predictable but the side knobs tear if your hard on them. And Michelin starcross rear. The Dunlop may work a tiny bit better new but the mich will out last it by a long shot.
