Why don't they determine gate picks by practice times? Or even previous year results? Drawing a number is absurd....same with Loretta's.

That is generally done for less consistent results on the start. For a one off race, not sure it's right. For a series, it breaks up the routine boredom.

It gives the lesser teams a bit of a chance which is a good thing IMO.
