Is the deal that Kevin is trying to put together for the outdoor nationals include him riding a 250 2 stroke in the 250F class. That would be awesome.

Did they change the rules to allow 250 two stroks in the 250F class at the National level? I thought that was only allowed in the Am. ranks.

He was on dmxs a few weeks ago saying he was working out a deal to do some of the outdoors. With some sort of fan interaction deal and possible a different size bike.

Your guess is as good as mine.
You would think they would be releasing SOMETHING on this ASAP.
Getting bikes and a program together isn't an overnight deal, even for a few privateers around me that have been wanting to know the same thing.

I"m not holding my breath on a rule change.
Not to mention Honda isn't going to be feeling kw riding a bike they no longer sale.

Yami & KTM could do themselves so good by hiring some top 20 guys without a ride to ride their smokers. Whatever class it may be.

I was actually hoping to see James jump on a YZ 125 at Budds Creek..............and run the number 259 as well.

From what I've read Service Honda has a 2009 CR 250AF. CRF250R frame with a 2001 CR250 motor. Who better than Windham for a bike like this

AJ Waggoner ; operations manager of Service Powersports
"The 2001 Honda CR250 engine was just a great all around 250 2 stroke power plant. Many riders, myself included, felt this was one of, if not Honda’s best 250cc effort! The power I feel when compared to the 02 and up engines, is a bit more what a 250 2 stroke rider expects, fun manageable and yet explosive enough when you need it. It has good low end, hits solid in the middle and revs out incredibly well."

It will be a double edge sword for any of the top Pro's to go down a class and run a 2 stroke.
They are called a cheater if they win, and worse .... the fans turn on him and call him washed up if he cant win.... tough spot for sure.

I think the main riders that the rule change is going to help is the privateers who don't have the support that the riders on the big teams have. They will be able to build a more competitive bike for alot cheaper. I don't expect to see the top riders on them.

A top 450 rider isn't going to be any faster on a 250 2 stroke, but the top guys in the lites class are running just as fast as the 450s with the exception of Bubba and Alessi. Take High Point last year, 6 of the top 10 lap times of the day were by riders a 250f, including the third through fifth fastest times.

Now I know there are alot of other variables, but just by lap times a 5th place 450 rider is still going to finish around 5th place in the lites class.

If he were to do it just for fun and to ride a 2 stroke, it would be cool, but I don't see him being a contender.

And by the way, I am a Kevin Windham fan.

The '01 CR250 was by far my favorite bike ever, but AJ's bikes aren't AMA legal unless he can show he has built/sold 400 units of the current model year.

he said the 500's are ok to run. Don't know about the 250's. The AMA visits his shop to verify it meets the homologation requirements.

As far as KW running up front? This would be a good year for it. I don't see anyone on a 250f that has that extra gear like JBS/RV/RC did. Would he win? I believe he is capable of it. But, I agree he would not walk away from competition.

K Dub would have his hands full. I think after having both 250 two somkes and 250f's The 2 stroke is a stronger bike. In K Dubs hands it would be great to see. He would have an even larger fan base for this!!

1Hour Plus 4 Laps on a 250 smoker is gonna be way tougher than on a 250f.
More tiring, less traction & easier to make mistakes on.

K-Dub would be just the man for the job.

I'd think a company like Service Honda, and Bell Ray would Jump at this chance. Even if Kdub just rode his favorite tracks. I think it would for sure draw way more interest. Factory honda should give him some support too. It is after all their parts, and don't they make more money selling parts than new bikes... I bet they will this year.

I agree that it would be awesome to see Kevin having fun, and for the most part he would probably not have the fans turn on him..... But I have witnessed the stupidity on the web too many times, just last year there were several multi page posts about K-Fade....
it would be a hard spot to be in.
