Looking at the difference between Grant and Brayton's bike from a pic OC posted, looks like a '14.

Both bikes are the same except exhaust. Horizontal shock reservoir = 2013.

Isn't the "wrap around the cylinder" exhaust only on the 2014?

meh, I see that now Sad Looking closer to the image above, the vent hose comes from the pre 2014 area as well.

Yea, didn't JGR develop all that stuff? They've been running 14' style/model bikes so to speak..

Those are such good looking bikes,
that you cant help but wonder what they could do with something other than the Yamaha.

That's funny. I wonder how much Yamaha borrowed from JGR? I remember hearing a podcast about that and Coy wasn't worried about it or something like that? Seems like maybe they could of sold some of those designs and engineering to ole yammy...

Go to JGRs website. They build motors, and everything else for any bike. You can order it just like from PC.

Actually, few people know this because they keep it under-wraps over at JGR but both bikes are 1996 YZ250s that have modifications to LOOK like a newer 450. Both riders prefer how the 96 handles.

Well they are the Yamaha factory team so I would think that any new design they have must be run past the Yamaha executives. And Yamaha probably has the rights to all of their designs. They probably do more R&D on the bikes than Japan does.

No way dude, they designed and engineered all that stuff on their own just like they do for their nascar team. That's their team and they do what they want. Their not a factory team either, Yamaha doesn't have one, only these satellite teams. They get support from Yamaha like bikes and parts, but they do all their own R&D and designs in house. And apparently Yamaha has "borrowed" JGRs design, like the tank for example. There was a recent podcast where Matthes went to JGR and they were talking about how the 2014s look similar to their 2013 race bike. There wasn't much they can do about it, especially since it isn't the exact blueprint design copy..

Yea she is, and they are good people. When Kyle went to stay with them and do the film "The Fighter" he had a blast! had nothing but great things to say about them.

Yeah, he must feel great, and he has a beautiful family. I don't know if it was editing or not, and I kind of like it with him not reading a sponsorship board on the podium, but I don't know if JGR Yamaha did, not mentioning them.

Gotta say, even though those are Yamahas, they are probably the best looking bikes in the pits right now. I hate to say it, but better than the Honda's. You just have to forget about the front fender (God awful).

Totally agree with you. The blue and white with the black frame and swingarm, and silver tubing for the forks. Man they are sick looking! I've never liked the front fender. I don't know if i Could get used to looking down at that fender either. Every time I've sat on one, it just feels weird looking down at it.

It just needs a different bend or something. God awful is a little strong. Heck, I would race it in a heartbeat.

Oh yea no doubt! Those bikes are supposed to have some really strong motors. Beat their beast!! I saw it jerking josh around a few times coming out those inside ruts. And the technology they have over there, NASCAR type stuff. Crazy..
