Fork swap question-offset?

Edited Date/Time 5/19/2016 10:27am
So I have a quick question about swapping forks. Assuming you have figured out how to do the physical swap already. Is fork offset different between models and years? I know that it can vary in bicycles. Not sure if there is an industry standard for MX. Curious about both offset in the triple crown and fork lugs. Would height ever be an issue?

Yes, different years have different lug offsets

Example:
Showa 47mm from crf 250 have fork lug offset ~ 38mm

Showa oem cr 125 2001 have fork lug offset ~ 41 mm

Good to know. Have people swapped lugs to get the right offset? Or is that getting a little too complicated?

I imagine people have swapped lugs before. There's an aftermarket axle out there that does the same thing (I'm not sure how you would make that work...)
Most commonly, guys will change the triple clamp out to get a different offset.

Fork length probably isn't an issue unless you are looking at swapping between a full-size bike and a minicycle. You can run the forks up or down in the clamps also.
