He probably doesn't pay any more than dealer cost +10% for his Renthal sprockets and bars. I'm sure he has the shop hookup.

The prices seemed steep for sure. That bike is awesome though. Imagine a factory Honda and the difference it made.

The article should have been titled "What it would cost the average guy to build..."

Chad didn't pay shit for most of those parts.

When that bike shows up on Ebay five years from now in the same unridden condition, what do any of you think the going price will be? Would it top six grand?

Like someone else said, he got alot of that for free through sponsorships. The few things that he may not have he would have paid no more than cost for, and definitely not full retail.

If you think the bikes are what makes his program expensive, think about his overhead. He has to pay all of the guys on his team, lease the semi, pay for a shop, pay to have his SX track maintained, travel for the entire team x28 races, insurance... the list just keeps going.

All of that being said, the bike that is for sale is cool, and is made up of all the best parts that YOU can buy. Sure there was alot of time spent setting it up for Chad, but that doesn't add any value for anyone else. It is more valuable to a collector or fan as a piece of history from the most successful rider funded SX team.

Well he was a privateer..

Does that also make Kevin Windham a privateer?

Wow, cool breakdown for sure. That motor part $7312 is pretty scary. I would like to see the breakdown of Chad's 05 YZ. I'm sure 2-stroke figures would be a little different.

looks like an mx71 (hardpack) tyre to me, got a few of those in the workshop- great tyre for hardpack tracks, dont last very long but grip well. We normally run the mx51 (intermediate) in most conditions as they are a bit more hard wearing
