Anybody buy the Apollo RFX 125?

My kid is starting to like riding dirt bikes and the CRF50 I bought him years ago is now too small for him. I keep seeing the Apollo RFX line of Chinese bikes and they actually look good for the price....anybody have any experience? Also, the SSR, YCF, & Pitster Pro look OK too? I just want to get him something he can bash around and learn how to jump that isn't a $7,000 race bike. Am I totally dumb for thinking this?

If he is just riding around in the yard that bike will be fine. I wouldn’t want my kid catching air on one. Way too many cheap parts.

How old is your kid? Height? Weight? Approximate skill level?

Personally, I'd look at getting him a bigger CRF, Yamaha TTR, or Kawasaki KLX for parts availability and resell value.

Stick with the ycf line . Great bikes , great price . Get something with electric start, both you and the kid will be happy you did. The 88 and 125 start se are awesome starter bikes. I got the 125 se for my daughter along with the short seat (50$) to start . Worked great.

Honestly the only ones I would trust are the 190cc "pro" models they offer. YCF and the Piranha are pretty popular. Although I don't own one (yet) lol.

Like Maverick said, look into getting him a CRF, TTR, KLX etc. They really aren’t that expensive at all. If cost is what you’re worried about then find a nice used one. You won’t have to worry about stuff like foot pegs snapping. And when you do need parts they will be readily available.

Also, if you buy a nice used bike like the ones mentioned above you won’t lose much money when you go to sell it in a few years if it’s taken care of. For example, if you buy a used CRF for say $2000 I bet you’ll sell in in 3-5 years for $1400-1500 pretty easily. If you buy some off brand new for $2000 you’ll be lucky if it’s running in a few years let alone sell it for anything more than a couple hundred bucks.
