Hi guys,

I have been wanting to learn how to ride a motocross for a few years now. Sadly, motocross is not allowed in my country. I can finally learn more about it when I go to Sweden for my studies in a few months. It would be great if you guys can share with me your recommendations on schools and/or coaches and/or tracks that you think will be useful for a beginner like me (starting with very basic lessons). Thank you so much. I really appreciate it.

Cheers!

Vietnam? Motocross is not allowed in Vietnam?

So there was a reason for that war after all...

If I don't remember wrongly, they used to ban and confiscate motocross and all customized bikes. Recently, enduro and supermotard are allowed as long as they meet all the requirements (headlights, tail lights, signals, paperworks, etc.). I wouldn't say that they are allowed because there are no rules and regulations written about them as of now, not any that I'm aware of after doing my research. But it's also a convenient loophole for traffic police to fine us since there are no official written regulations about allowing us to ride these bikes either.

The war joke is not funny.

Where are you going to be living in sweden? Stockholm? Göteborg???? Will you have a car? Are you able to buy a bike and have a place to store it? Or do you want to loan a bike and equipment? Do you have a lot of money, or are you on a tight budget?

Hiii, i'm gonna be living in Växjö. If there's already a place in Växjö then it would be great, if not then I'm willing to travel during my summer breaks. I won't have a car but I can travel around by other transportations. I will soon be able to buy a bike and would love to buy one in the future but for now, I want to loan a bike and equipment during the earlier stage of learning. I would prefer a place that's not so expensive of course but I don't really know what my budget is gonna be like since I don't know where the school is gonna be and what the fees for the lessons will be like. I do want to know more and figure it out along the way. Any suggestion? Thank youuu

I live an hour from Växjö, but there arent a single place in sweden i believe that you can rent a bike for a longer period, a day or two tops.
Bigballs MX (seriously) is in Växjö, the owner Jannis is a Suzuki dealer and the importer of TLD to Sweden.

He might get a hold of a bike to buy, but to rent? I doubt it.

That was really helpful. Thank you. Do you happen to know any kind of school nearby or any coach that can give me beginner lessons? I was thinking of maybe renting a bike from the school for each lesson but I don't know if it's possible or how it works in SWE.

We have 2 types of "schools" here, one is a motocross highschool for the richest of kids between 16-19 years old.
The other one is just a weekly training session, or even monthly in my case, and thats for the kids also.

We have no places in sweden like MTF or SOBMX, there is just not enough money in it here.
I hope you can get something going but honestly, swedish motocross organisations are shit.

Agreed - the 'people dying' part of war is not funny.

I do find the fact that people would fight to the death for an ideology that forbids them from 'modifying' motorcycles, and riding them on dirt, chuckle-worthy, yes.

But hey, we're almost there ourselves Wink

Well, that sucks. No training sessions for adults? The weekly session sounds like something I can do. Since you are training with them, I guess they do make exceptions to train with adults too?

I hope I can get something going too. I could only find one school which is Brian Jorgensen MX School. Have you heard of this place? What do you think of the place though?

Just realized that the place is not from Sweden but they have summer camp in Sweden every now and then I think. Back to square one. Seriously guys, if you happen to know any place or anyone that provides training sessions, it would be superb!! Really want to start as soon as I get to SWE.

Yep its in denmark, the weekly schools might let you in with the kids, but its only once a month in the Växjö area i think.
And you still need to buy a bike and gear, nothing is for hire here.
Hit up Jannis Dimtsas on Facebook or instagram, thats the closest you are gonna get

Thank you sooo much. At least I got a brief of what's going on there. Will check him out now. Worse comes to worse, I'm gonna go for self-taught. And I think we all know how that's gonna turn out but if there's no other way. That's how much I want to get a hold on this. Hey by the way, do you happen to know any website about getting a bike license in Växjö? Information about where to get it, fees, etc. Thanks a million.

Svemo is the swedish motorcycle association, TA.svemo.se is where you log in and make an account, you need a training license to ride our tracks, it costs 500kr or roughly 55$.
The track nearest to you are Krokvik, uppvidinge and Vissefjärda

If you ever come down to Karlstad and have your own gear, maybe I can set you up with a loaner bike and do some training on our hometrack. As long it doesn't interfere with my racing schedule Smile

A friend got an crf 150 he probably would lend out.

Do you have basic clutch/throttle experience from mopeds/scooters/road bikes?

If you really don't mind, I would love to come down and do some training there. Will definitely not going to interfere with your racing schedule. This is so thoughtful of you. Thank you! I do have experience in motocycles in general (more with automatic bikes) since we ride them here in Vietnam daily.
