Late last year I got a 2001 kx125, I am interested in restyling it but all of the builds and kits I have found are for 03 and up. I was wondering what changes between 01 and 03 that would be a factor?

Side note: I am currently in a machine shop vocational program so if needed I can fabricate mounts and other parts as needed.

03 was a completely redesigned bike. I suspect you're on your own when it comes to adapting newer style plastic.

I did it to a 99 KX125 for a friend. Had to use the tank, subframe, and air box from the 03 or newer. I think my donor parts came from an 04. Had to use the 99 air boot, but it bolted right up to the newer air box. Had to make a silencer mount, relocate the coil because the newer tank had clearance issues, and reshape the shock tower to fit the new tank and subframe. Also had to move one of the lower subframe mounts. It was alot of work

1st pick is the oem 99-02 setup. You have to cut the whole subframe mount off. It's kinda U shaped and is welded to the shock tower

It was a budget build for the kid so please excuse the nasty monster/Merica graphics ? Here's how it started life
