Well the time finally arrived. I like to live in chaos I guess so why not trade a perfectly sound CRF450R for the unknown of a 2019 125?! When I made the trade I took a minute to silently enjoy my habit of not starting or riding a newly acquired trade/purchase.
Back in 2015 I bought a 2004 Honda CR125R in Columbus Ohio. The bike was clean. It ran in the parking lot of Iron Pony Motorsports and that was that. A week later when I got around to messing with it I started it and let it idle. Idle it did for a few seconds before the piston skirt cracked and destroyed the crank.
Little did I know that was the beginning of the next phase of my dirtbike obsession. I learned to rebuild bottom ends off that CR.
Here we are at least 6 bikes later and I willingly...no eagerly handed over my 2017 450 that I had ridden in two Supercross Futures events and countless other routine ride days. My good buddy had destroyed his knee on that bike in Amarillo Labor Day weekend of 2018 at Bowers. All memories I decided to part ways with as a birthday gift to myself for my 34th trip around the sun.
Worry not though...I still have my trusty 2006. In fact, thats my inspiration for having another 125 in the stable. I have actually now at this point gone all in on two strokes and have no intention of looking back. Stay tuned as I don't yet know what direction I am taking this, but hopefully it passes through Loretta Lynn's ranch in 2023...
