Several years ago I traded my 2016 KX250F for a 1988 CR500 and some cash. I bought the KX as a re-entry back into motocross and just couldn't get into the 4 stroke. It did everything fine but lacked the two stroke feel. I found it on Craigslist and made the trade. It compliments my 1988 CR250 which is in restoration hold atm.
After obtaining I started to make changes which include:
Replacing all suspension and wheel bearings
Clarke and spare stock tank
Stock tooth rear sprocket
Stock pipe
Pro-circuit silencer to go with the FMF pipe
FMF silencer to go with the stock pipe (can't find a original)
Stock style handlebars with grips
New shroud decals
New clutch and throttle cables
Cleaned and polished the lower fork tubes
New fork boots and clamps
IMS pegs
New reeds
Tuned the stock PJ carb
Boyesen clutch and ignition covers
NOS rear caliper guard and disc guard
New rear rotor and pads all around
Replaced the airbox
New rear mud guard
Other NOS misc. parts I can't recall off the top
The frame had been powder coated and motor repainted and supposedly new piston and seals.
