Toronto Supercross Saturday Practice/Qualifying

David  Vuillemin

Saturday's practice in Toronto also brewed up the first bit of controversy. James Stewart was rapidly catching Ivan Tedesco as they came up on a dragonback section on the track. James launched off the inside, and as he came down his frame landed on top of Ivan's left hand, which launched the Suzuki pilot off the track for a long slide across the concrete on the Rogers Centre floor. After being attended to by the Asterisk Mobile Medical crew, Ivan stormed along the track, intent on sending a message…which you see here.

Ivan sending a message.

Of course it wasn't intentional, but that made little difference to Tedesco, who also confronted James after he exited the track. We haven't received official word on the injury (Ivan was heading out to get it checked out), but at this point it appears his hand is broken.

Other highlights from today so far include…

•    James Stewart with the quickest Supercross-class lap in timed qualifying, a couple tenths quicker than Ricky Carmichael.
•    David Vuillemin with the third quickest lap times in both Supercross practice sessions, not far behind RC's pace.
•    Red Bull KTM's Martin Davalos with the fastest time in the Supercross Lites ahead of Troy Adams and Zach Osborne.
