Top 10: Houston

We're counting down towards the end of the 2014 Monster Energy Supercross season, and now it's time to count down through the results from Houston. First up? The 450s.

Ryan Villopoto got the 450 race started with a holeshot, and that's usually bad news for his competitors. There'd be no repeat of last week, where James Stewart caught and passed him.

10. Chris Blose has been hitting the top ten for the last couple of weeks. Staying healthy and consistent, especially late in the season, pays off.

9. Eli Tomac (GEICO Honda) and James Stewart battled bak and forth for several laps early in the main...before James got away.

8. Mike Alessi (Smartop MotoConcepts Racing) scored another top ten this week. Yeah, he has upped his Supercross game.

7. Ryan Dungey (Red Bull KTM) got caught up in the mess that claimed several riders early in the main, and had to work up from 18th on the first lap.

6. Andrew Short (BTO Sports/KTM) and Trey Canard hung out together for a bit.

5. James Stewart (Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing) apparently acquired a stomach bug early in the week that had him questioning whether he'd be able to ride at all. He skipped chunks of practice, but put in a surprisingly spirited ride for a heat race win.

4. Trey Canard (Team Honda Muscle Milk) moved up a spot from last week's fifth, and continues to look better as he reacquaints himself with racing.

3. Ken Roczen (Red Bull KTM) says he's a little flat, but his version of off is still good enough for a podium spot.

2. For the second week in a row, Justin Barcia (Team Honda Muscle Milk) was slotted into the runner-up spot. With Justin Brayton sidelined by another broken finger (to go along with the finger and foot bone that he'd broken the previous week), Barcia moved into fifth overall in the series.

1. With his fourth win of the season, and an off night for his nearest competitors, Ryan Villopoto (Monster Energy Kawasaki) now has a 45-point lead and a chance to wrapped up his fourth straight title well before the end of the season...maybe even as early as next weekend if he has a similar race in Seattle.

10. The holeshot in the 250 main went to Jessy Nelson (Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda). He ran into a little trouble during the main and dropped to tenth at the finish.

9. Justin Hill (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki) was running in third early in the main, but dropped to ninth near the end.

8. Jake Canada (5150 Energy) moved forward throughout the main on his way to an eighth-place finish.

7. Shane McElrath (Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda) and Malcolm Stewart did some formation flying in their heat race.

6. Cooper Webb (Yamalube Star Racing Yamaha) started ninth, but made his way to sixth by the finish.

5. Zach Osborne (GEICO Honda) was chasing Cole Seely for most of the main.

4. Cole Seely (Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda) started just inside the top ten, but moved his way to fourth by the finish.

3. Malcolm Stewart (Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda) grabbed the third-place trophy this weekend with a solid ride.

2. As you can see here, Dean Wilson (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki) went down hard in his heat race. He suffered an AC separation in his shoulder, but despite that he got taped up and raced the main. He was closing on Jason Anderson near the end, but couldn't quite catch him.

1. Jason Anderson (Rockstar Energy Racing KTM) moved into the lead by the second turn of the main, and scored yet another win...enough to give him an 11-point lead with two rounds remaining in the West series.
