Carmichael, Alessi Fastest in Saturday Practice

The best times today came in the early practices today, when light showers that kept the dust down in the first round turned to heavier rain in the later session.

Ricky Carmichael turned in the fastest lap among the big-bore class, followed by James Stewart and Davi Millsaps. Kevin Windham turning in his fastest lap in the soggy conditions was impressive. Several riders chose to focust their attention on their starts, rather than deal with the slick conditions on the full course.

In the ultra-competitive Lites class, Mike Alessi had the edge, turning a lap almost a second faster than Ryan Villopoto. With rain continuing into Saturday evening, and the possibility of thunderstorms in the forecast for tomorrow, It looks like a good weekend for riders with mud skills.
