Congrats on the pacemaker.

Several things before we continue. Why did you get it? sinus bradycardia? Heart block-1, 2 or 3rd degree?

Are you dependent or is it a backup for vasovagal syncope?

Was it planned or did you get it after er admit?

Do you really need it? Youd be suprised how many dont.

What make-brand? Is the sensor on or off? Lower rate and upper rate?

What terrain do you ride? Moto, enduro,

Ok. Wait 3 months to do anything like golf, moto, etc. You need to let the leads settle and embed into tissue so you dont dislodge them, screw in or passive. Doesnt matter. You dont want to have to reposition them, as infection rates rise when going back. Next, pacemakers have sensors that help regulate rate via motion, breathing rate, physiologic algorithm, etc. When you ride, its bumpy which will shoot the rate to the max until you stop riding then drop slowly. The upper rate has to be high enough to support your physiologic need as well as the gain needs to be low enough to not go crazy at the first movement. It will automatically adjust gain as time goes.

As far as crashing and damaging, dont worry. They're titanium sealed and at the peck where muscle will absorb cushion as well.

You'll become a good friend with your local pacer rep if you ride alot. Make sure he or she knows what they're doing when adjusting.

Great job, ass. How was nailing an 82 year old in a nursing home? That run of the mill for you?

I know a guy who raced with it, he was pretty fast, so his heart worked hard during racing.

Consult your doctor, tell him what stress mx puts on your heart.

I have a hunch that eventually you're going to end up dying regardless what decision you make; might as well twist some throttle cables while you have the chance!

I got it related to complete block. Mainly associated with Upper heart rates. Had bad experience in the gym twice somewhere between 150 to 160 beats a min. Supposedly it's suppose to just be back up but at my first appt the tech told me I had been paced 0.9% of the time which was confusing since I had been sitting on my duff for the last three days. So I have some more questions when I have my next appt. I am trying to be very good about the wait and recuperate. The told me only six weeks though. I am only 43 so I should heal fast. Hopefully x-ray will reveal my healing status and I wont have to wait 3 mo. I ride motocross, Enduro just doesn't do it for me. So the fact that I had been paced while at rest is confusing to me. It's a Medtronic two lead by the way. I am pretty good at customizing bike seats so I have some good Ideas for tweaking my chest protector for some extra protection for my little buddy.

Any chance you could put me in touch with him? Or ask him if he would mind?

One of the fastest guys in our club has a pace maker. I swear he just dials it up when he wants to go faster. He's had it ever since I've known him (10+ years).

I am thinking Kenny Keylon had to get one after he stopped racing pro MX, but he continued to run Hare scramble races.
