Larocco Sr?

Remember I think it was Ward that would show up in the pits in a Ferrari or some outlandish car. And I remember when McGrath had that Acura NSX early in his career. Still one of my all time favorite cars.

I thought George Ellis was the original Kawi semi driver. 1975 250 SX champ Jimmy Ellis' dad. Jimmy was long done with pro racing by then.

Was that the year Doug won in San Jose ?

( In '92 I was racing British Champs on a 250 Suzuki... probably would have been faster on a moped I think the power valve was actually a speed governer that wouldn't allow it to go over 30)

2nd bit of trivia.........How awesome is mcphilly's avatar?
I wish we could line JS7, Alessi, Lusk, Swink, Rand, Bogard, etc. all up when they were each in their prime on their 80's and see who would win. Before I get shit for that statement, I know it isn't possible...........Cool

Holy shit! Those are 1991 KX's in the picture. That means I was off a year! Sorry for my mistake everyone.
I was 15 years old at the time, so I guess that was 20 years ago. Man, seems like yesterday!

No doubt
I think he quit because it seemed no one liked him. Fan's cheered against him, his team mates didn't like him, and his competition hated him because he kicked the shit out of them.
Man, that RS Taichi gear he wore was sweet though!

He quit because he wanted to go road racing.

He always made it clear that his coming to the US was to acheive one thing : Win an SX title, once done he was out.

My understanding is the last year of his MX contract here they couldn't keep him away from Button Willow etc because he was always out testing on the road race bike.

I think one reason he was wearing Taichi gear that year was because he wanted to lock in a contract with them for when he went road racing.
