10 YZ450 air filter

I just bought some Twin-air filters for my 2010 YZ450f. The stock filter has a thin foam piece under the actual filter. Does that stay there or do I shit can it when I put the Twin-air on?

I would nt throw anything away until you get the correct answer, Maybe contact Twin Air? , thats a good question, my buddy has a 2010 450 also, and lookin to upgrade the filter sustem,, MXA had a article on the upgrade air filter system for the yzf!

Just order the DT1 that's what Yamaha's race team has tested and chose to be the best. The foam sealing ring seals without the necessary grease mess of the others and it has been said to increase hp. If you think you need some more hp to keep up with the green and orange bikes this would be a better investment then a pipe for instance.

Question to all in this thread I was wondering if grease was still needed with the filter uni, stock gytr any of them. I have received mixed feelings on this topic. I think there is no need for grease on the efi Yamaha's but after thinking about am starting to question my thoughts. What are the efi450 Yamaha guys doing as far as the grease ring goes on there Yamaha's?

Anyone? Need to know racing staples mX this weekend and Want to know if the efi Yamaha guys use grease on the ring of the filter. Cannot find any info on it? The book says to just oil it... Need help asap.. Thanks

tRUE... but the manuals back in the day never said to grease the ring either so,, who the f*ck knows what is right, wish i could talk to some pro mechanics..

Unless you're using the DT-1 filter, run the grease.
The EFI has nothing to do with whether you should grease it or not. It's used to keep any dust from getting by the filter edge.

Order some DT-1's, you'll be happy you did.
