I shared a few stories on this forum about him. He's been living during his EMX125 close to our home track and man, the amount of talent this guy already had was insane. It was crazy to me that KTM group put him on a team with less financial backing after his final EMX125 season - with all respect to Braceras his results that made him a supported KTM EMX250 rider - as you could see his talent and speed from a mile away. His EMX250 results before going to Raths Motorsports KTM don't do justice with the amount of speed he already had back then, on a stock bike.
Anyways, he had more then a year of struggles in EMX250, while his team didn't have enough funds to give him the competitive bike he needed. They obviously tried to help him out, I know the team owner for a bit and it's hard to be competitive in the EMX250 class. Then Raths Motorsports KTM took him over and his results start to progress alot. He won the ADAC Youngsters championship and team owner Niklas Raths for some reason could talk Star Racing in taking the opportunity on him.
The rest is history. Star Racing dropped him after his first turn crash and his injury (bike malfunction) on the Husky came at a bad moment with KTM group their financial struggles and he was without a ride again. Then Triumph racing (Thierry Chizat-Suzzoni, Vincent Bereni, Clement Desalle, Ian Kimber) took him and McLellan and together they progressed their way back to being a winning team and more importantly, gave Farres and McLellan all the needed tools to achieve and ride to their full potential
Amazing comeback, I'm so happy for the kid after years of almost seeing his career slip away. I just wish he had one more year to defend his MX2 title. But there's no doubt in my mind that he has what it takes to make it in MXGP
It's kinda crazy both McLellan and Farres progressed a ton since riding for Triumph.
Great celebration, congrats Guillem!!

Guillem is one of the best kids in the paddock. His success is well deserved. I work a lot with Niklas Raths and when he told me that he had a tryout with Star I knew he would be on that team. People dont even know that when he first got the ride, he didnt even have knee braces and was trying to get some here in the states to use. He almost ended up in mine but got some last minute haha.
