I figured I’d bump this thread since salmon season is fast approaching. I’ve noticed over the last few years more and, more people are fishing.
Maybe if there are any newcomers to salmon fishing, this thread will help.

I haven’t gotten out as much as I’d like. I’m hoping to get out more in October when the coho show up. That’s my favorite species to chase. Especially around the Grey’s Harbor tributaries. Hint hint.
To many people fishing around the Minter fishing hatchery, clogs the 2 lane road by it. Seen some big fish caught.
Yeah I hate that place. I’ve been there a few times when other places were slow.
You used to be able to fish at night there. Meaning after midnight, you better always have your first limit by then. Going home with eight fish in a nights work was worth it.
They restricted it, changed the boundaries and, added cameras to catch snaggers. I will stand firm on not ever going there anymore.
Grey’s harbor tributaries get somewhat crowded at times but, the fishing is also more relaxing than a lot of other places.
My daughter lives just around the corner from Minter, surprising there isn't more accidents there. I heard they had closed it down some, still gets very crowded. Rough looking crowd.
I’m gonna need some Salmon Steaks. Styrofoam cooler and some dry ice……….

Had the day off so, I hit the river today. Caught four and, kept two. The meat turned out to be surprisingly high quality considering the larger fish I kept wasn’t as chrome as the smaller one. It got even darker in the bag in ice. Same fish cut as the one with the rod in the pic.
For reference, that knife is 12” long
