Ironman Circus

In years past the Friday practice included 3 rounds of group practice sessions. 

In advance it was mentioned being reduced down to only 2 rounds.  Disappointing, but still figured the juice was worth the squeeze because I really dig this track!  I've gone almost every year they held a mx national.  

On Friday, gates only opened at 7 and practice was scheduled to start at 8:00?  Red flag number one of many to follow

Sitting a handful of vehicles from front of the line to enter the track at 6:45, still not able to enter property until 7:15... A staff person at gate said we had to park across the road and ride our bikes across the road?  Obviously not the case, we proceed and parked in normal lot next to weekend campers.  

Rush to sign up, find a line of 100 people with a sign for pre registration, none in the others?  Odd?!  Seemingly none of the people in line had registered, grabbing waivers to fill out etc.  I walk up to the empty line and ask what's up?, she says "oh they're all in the wrong line, let me look up your pre registration anyway"  proceeds to go through a file cabinets amount of printed out papers to find my name. 

Get signed up , rush down to practice staging, no labeled lanes to organize riders, no speaker to announce groups, just chaos as riders pile in in no order, not knowing where/when to go

Practice was delayed until nearly 10:00...As a result only 1 round was able to be accomplished.  Was pretty bummed to say the least.  The staff at sign up had no explanation, I was told to "go complain to somebody else" 

Taking a walk around the facility during the afternoon, the handful of vendors closed up tents early. No merch or food available to the thousands of people staying for the weekend.  Cheeseburgers from a typical carny vendor were $15 for context.  Another let down, lets just enjoy the view of this great race track then! 

Walk across the bridge to the "infield" and find a bench to sit down.  After a few minutes a staff member in a sxs skids to a stop next to us and says we need to leave because the infield area was closed to spectators.  It was 5pm!    

Take my experience what little its worth!  Great track, terribly managed.
