Hey guys... just ordered a Traxxas Slash 2wd (5803 model) for my son's 7th birthday. It's in the closet for the next couple of weeks until his B-day. Been looking at these for a while now.

Tower had $25 off and free shipping this weekend... so I ended up ordering the Slayer Pro for myself Friday night! Tongue

The Slayer Pro should be here on Tuesday. Does anyone know if the Kawasaki kit (wheels & tires) are available to purchase seperately? I have another boy who will be turning 6 in July, and may just get him the Kawasaki (probably off of Ebay) for his B-day. Do they sell this edition at the races? We'll be heading to Indy Supercross in 2 weeks!

Also, I'm gonna stick with the nimhs batteries instead of Lipos for the boys (for safety). I got the Duratrax Dual Charger (240 model) too and a few extra batteries. Can't wait!

I got my son the Slash 4wd for his birthday...last week. It's a great car, and plenty fast enough. We have a Lipo battery as well... it's crazy fast.

I had a Slash 4x4 and it was a very durable truck. The electronic speedo and motor that come in the truck work really good. You can't go wrong with this truck, or any traxxas truck for that matter.

Here is a Redbull body that I just did for someone. The body is all paint and no stickers.

I've got the Slayer, and it friggin' rips!

Been pretty trouble free, too (except for when my son tore up the front suspension on a curb, and again doing back-flips over the bonfire on a dez trip).

I've had a slash 4x4 ultimate on order for nearly 2.5 weeks, tower hobbies were great and sent it off real quick, but USPS is acting a little wierd.

The tracking site says the expected delivery date is the 22nd of feb, but the tracking says that it only left the states on the 22nd of feb, but now the tracking is stuck on "international dispatch". I'm hoping the worst is that it's stuck in customs maybe, other than that, a postal worker scored a new rc truck?

I've got a lipo and charger at home waiting for the truck to arrive.

I've even unloaded a few trailer loads of dirt in a small patch of yard out behind our backyard were i wash the mx bike to have a bit of a track for when the slash eventually gets here..

Before

And after, i still need to build more berms and a few jumps and compact it down...still trying to figure out how im going to compact the dirt down.

I checked the tracking this morning, at it had "attempted delivery at 6:50am" which is rather odd, and i never had a "sorry we missed you" card that the post people usually leave.

A trip to the post office had the girl searching for a good ten minutes for a package that i wasn't too sure would be here. Sure enough, she came out with this....

Woo. She said that they wouldn't have even tried to deliver it this morning, and i would have had waited until Monday for it (Today being Friday).

hey tobz, you should do a review on it. I've been looking at getting one and currently stuck between the traxxas slash or the similar one made from losi

Good idea man, i'm still getting a few things sorted on it but at the moment it's a pretty steep learning curve. I'll type up an excuse of an opinion soon.

We recently bought the Slash 4x4. We love it. My son and I drive it 2 or 3 times a week, on the track I built. It's more of a SX track. My neighbor has an Associated one. He comes over every now and then. I don't think he's left, without it broken. Not sure of the exact one he has....

We've never had 1 issue with ours...it's rock solid.

I haven't driven many of the others, so I can't comment on them. But I will be buying another Traxxas Slash 4x4 soon....

My son and I used to build the electric 1/10 scale about 13 years ago. Losi and Yokomo stuff, I really liked building them. Running them was just ok to me. My son did most of that. Still have all the stuff but batteries(now way advanced).

Boo. What swung you? I like my traxxas, there's a few teething problems, but i have been bashing it really hard.

Don't think i'd get away with most of that with a Losi.

I struggled to find an Australian stockist of traxxas, The guy I spoke to basically said that the main difference between the slash, Team associated and losi was product support and brand name.

I actually didn't order it today after reading a bit more, and have decided to do more research.

Can't watch Youtube atm, what do you class as bashing??

True, our LHS said something stupid like they don't import the 4x4 model because they have plenty of 2wd models that they need to sell. So i order everything from amainhobbies.com it gets here in about 5 business days, is half the price.

That youtube vid was at a stadiumcross track, smashing through whoops and off jumps, gave it a bit of a hiding. It's a bit difference than just taking it out on a proper rc track that doesn't have hard hits or smashing that bashing has.
