Pollen gets to me too. I found this on the internet this morning and thought I'd pass it along.

"Impurities travel through the circulatory system and lodge in the respiratory system, the skin and other tissues prone to allergies, Nathwani said. Then, pollen irritation, for example, kicks an already-compromised immune system into high gear, producing the symptoms of an allergy attack - sneezing, inflammation and mucous drainage, she said.
Long-term resistance to allergies requires a change of dietary habits, but there's an Ayurvedic remedy for quick relief from seasonal allergies, Nathwani said. Mix one-half teaspoon of cinnamon with eight ounces of room-temperature water and down it at one fell swoop, making sure beforehand that cinnamon doesn't interact with supplements or medication one is taking.
"Cinnamon helps reduce inflammation and kindles the digestive fire, which supports the digestive system," Nathwani said."

hmmm...have you tried it? It's one of those can't hurt things...but, sounds kind of iffy.

I do suffer from some pretty severe allegies at times (specific pollens that kick my butt).

I've found that Allegra is the most effective medicine for me.

Although it's kind of gross, flushing the sinuses with water (warm salt water is best) helps out a lot.

Yep, I usually get the sneezes and itchy tear ducts about this time of year. Believe it or not, cutting back on dairy products helped me. But, I'll give the cinammon thing a shot. Thanks, Ger.

My wife is into alternative medicine. She reads and gives me the info.

For years I suffered with hay fever. There were some times I even had to go to the hospital it was so severe. I had allergy shots for 10 years as a kid. As an adult, I couldn't make it through the fall from Labor Day until it snowed (Chicago area) without many doc trips, hot steam baths/showers, tons of benedryl, zyrtec, claritan, or the newest concoction.

All the alternative people say diet is the answer. I've completely cut out any bread, flour products, pastas. Anything made with flour/gluten.
I haven't had one symptom in over 3 years since following that dietary change.

Its all about what you eat my friends.

Local Honey will build up your immunity to the pollen.

I can believe the local honey thing...kind of like the shots, only it will probably actually provide what you need to build immunity.

I took shots for a year and thought it was a complete waste of time and money.

Diet would make a difference for some I'm sure. I know my issues are time sensitive and location. The worst attack I've ever had happened to me three times in the same area. We were driving in to College station and I started to notice an itch in my throat.

I'm either allergic to Aggies (which is likely) or something very specific to that region.

Taking allegra is the only way I can go to CS during the spring.

It's only scientific if you have on dark rim glasses also. Thats why it only worked for 3.5 hrs.

I had it BAD when I was young. Started on Nasonex about 5 years ago. That stuff works great. Now I only use it a couple of times per month.
