Ive noticed in the past week or so that many including the Prez are now refering to this as a "tax rebate" and not using the "stimulus" moniker that they seemed to have insisted on using when we first heard of this lunacy. I wonder why the change in nominclature.

No, but your church wants 10% of your stimulus check.

2-smoke & R92:

I see that you like to talk about faith & religion so much that it permeates even tax rebate discussions. I'm glad that you are thinking about God.

Don't need no TV though, plasma or otherwise.

Think about the difference in terms. A tax rebate can be subtracted from next year's tax refund...

If you're not feeling adequately stimulated, don't wait for the government to do it for you. Do it yourself! No, it won't make you go blind.

You mean when they take more than they need from you for this years taxes and return some of it, that it doesn't count towards your income from next year?

What a novel concept.

Since you don't believe in Government giving out freebies and that individuals should be responsible for themselves rather than looking to the Government to subsidize them, I think you should set the example. Ttake that money and kindly return it to GW and the Congress with a hand written note expressing your beliefs and concerns that the Government is supporting the welfare state mindset and this goes against what the founding fathers of this great nation had envisioned.

Or just send your "rebate" to my Paypal account and I will take care of the matter for you.

Since so many, including GW, are linking these stimulus checks with helping pay for higher priced gas, how much and how fast do you think gas prices will increase once these checks hit most bank accounts?

I say between May 1 and June 1, the national average for regular will increase $0.60/Gallon and the increase will be much faster than previously expected and much faster than the previous month.

You don't think oil companies see this money as an excuse to further raise prices, do you?

Hi Tuz. I understand your suggestion, and I would do as you suggest if I hadn't paid the IRS too dang much money too long too often too fast. Thus I will accept it and place it in investments.

Now, were I a welfare king/queen it would be ignoble to accept it, but I'm sure I would because I would have a well-develped sense of entitlement already. Thus i would see it as just another payment for nothing.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't 435 other people in congress vote this in and then the pres. signed it. Yet you lay all the blame on Dubya? He's not he only one in this. Hell they were all on tv talking about this "major" accomplishment.

they sure did. I'd say voting for the checks is good enough reason to vote against everyone one of them.
