STOP WRITING UDATE:😂 Mum cracked me up today so I decided to poke a bit of fun at myself.
My sister went for a night out with all her work friends (she deserved it as she does so much for us and her daughters) and told me to tell mum “I love you”. I tell mum and she says “Selfish” with an awesome smile!😂
I’m trying to get answers about these intermittent pains/cramps but so far nothing.
She’s eating well, drinking well (drank a little bottle of protein drink all on her own)l but, the pain is taking a lot out of her.
I could keep a diary of this but it just wouldn’t be the same. Thank you for the outlet everyone.
💪😌❤️💃
My mother was given magnesium to help with cramps. Just over the counter supplements. If they don't have an answer for whats causing them, ask about magnesium.
I'm so happy for you to see that Your mom's recovering!! Its nice to see some positive stuff in a world so full of not so great news. Keep posting ,and enjoying Your Mom.
The diary is not a bad idea. Pictures and videos of her progress along the way could help as well. A lot of us stroke victims get very frustrated at some point and claim we are not getting better. It could be a recharge to see how far she has come. I'd just like to add this. You should expect some not so pleasant days ahead. Not trying to be a downer whatsoever. Progress is quick in the beginning as neuroplasticity is firing on all cylinders. That typically slows after 6 months or so. Her progress should continue for as long as she tries but it usually slows way down. Also, as it pertains to figuring out all herproblems like cramps etc., remember these are mostly neurological issues. And as such they are difficult to diagnose and can be difficult to treat. Think intermittent electrical problem on your bike. Have some patience this probably gonna be a marathon not a sprint. Lastly, she has the most valuable thing she needs right now and thats you. You appear to be one helluva son. She sounds badass too. You all will figure it out.✌️
Thank you for the post and kind words, it means a lot. I’m ready for the marathon and I know mum is too.
Mum threw up about an hour after dinner (the first time it has happened) and the nurses said it was likely a reaction to the pain. It actually looked like it did her some good. It’s just something else we have to get through and we will.
She had a nice visit from some close friends and their 1 and a half year old son and she loved it! Also, my niece went to one of the local Moto clubs I grew up racing (and she attended as a baby herself) to watch some racing with her husband and 14 month old daughter. Mum recognised it right away as it was where she would watch me race from with one of her dear late friends.
Through the highs and lows, everyday is a blessing and I’ll do everything in my power to make sure mum is okay.
Thanks again for the support everyone, it’s very much appreciated.

Hey Ezza, Mum's got this. Keep them updates coming.
Always sending strength, love, and prayer to your Mum.
Good days and bad days; I knew they were a part of this from early on.
Today was another rough one for mum (the pain) but, she still had her moments in between that show she’s willing to continue pushing forward.
She was visited by some dear elderly friends who have both been through their own health struggles. It was amazing but unfortunately they caught mum at a time when she was too exhausted to really enjoy the visit. They lwill continue to go and see her… It’s a long story but they didn’t know what had happened until a week ago.
We have a family meeting with the team at the hospital as everything has gone silent in regards to the things we were told about a recovery plan.
I’m not upset, just a bit disappointed.
Onwards and upwards.
Thank you for allowing me to “vent” everyone. Keep charging.
💪😌❤️💃
They finally got a urine sample (a temporary catheter) and sent mum for a CT scan just after midday.
She was supposed to go for another one tonight for her brain but they said the first one took so much out of her that they would wait until tomorrow.
All was good except for the pain then, at about 6:30, she just completely switched off and wasn’t responding and just seemed to be in no man’s land.
The doctor came to see her and she started to come good again.
He said it was delirium from the pain and she was going for a bladder scan (this was at 7:00 tonight) and reassured me that as scary as it seems, it’s quite a normal thing under these circumstances.
It has been 11 days and the last 5 have been so hard for mum but, I’m beginning to politely assert myself and make sure this gets sorted out.
This thread has helped me so much. Thank you everyone… Keep charging.
Onwards and upwards.💪😌❤️💃
Seeing all the positive posts, the support, to me is what Vital is about.
I’m glad your mom is in much better shape Ezza. She’s fortunate to have a good son such as yourself watching over her.
Support is Vital, (pun not intended) , good job Ezza. Fight Mum.💯👍🏻
UTI's can cause some mental issues to if they are bad. My mother had a string of them after her stay in a rahab for her hip. Can cause hallucinations and some wild stuff. My mom only had a fever one time while having a UTI. I'm assuming they are testing or tested for that if they took urine. Antibiotics clear them up pretty quickly , a couple days or so .
Spend as much time as You possible can with her, You'll never regret! Hopefully she's around for a longtime, but You never know.
I enjoy the updates and I am so happy with her will to fight. She is no quitter and neither is her son! Keep strong my friend this is your fight but we are all in your corner. Big hugs to mom
I was going to mention UTI also.
I've learned a lot about female issues the past year taking care of mom that I never knew about.
Keep advocating for your mom Ezza but make sure to not wear yourself out. It can be very mentally draining.
What a difference one night and some action can make! I knew today was going to be amazing.
Mum woke up when I kissed her on the forehead with a big smile and she was talking and responding so well! She’s on antibiotics and they’re giving her an enema (sorry if tmi) as that was also causing some of the pain.
I’m so stoked!
Thank you for the messages my brothers. You are all so very kind and it gives me so much strength to then pass on to mum.
Keep charging.💪😌❤️💃
Mum was pretty good yesterday (exhausted) but around about 5:30 she was in major pain right until we left at 7:20.
The doctor was called in and they were going to treat mum so we left her in their “capable hands”.
It’s constipation that’s causing it. I had no idea that it was that bad but my sister said there’s a lady at her work that was screaming in agony just the day before due to the same thing.
They’re sending her to another hospital not far from here for an MRI (they don’t have one at this hospital) on her gallbladder which was mentioned a few days ago.
Otherwise a good day and we will continue fight through this challenge.
💪😌❤️💃
I've heard...don't take what I'm saying as fact, or anything credible, but...the gallbladder is blamed as the first culprit. They remove it and it's no big deal if that's not the reason for pain. Oh well, we tried.
My sis in law had hers removed when she was having lots of abdominal pain. It did not help .Ended up,... and I never really got to the bottom of it but she was too tense down there...needed to relax and not be stressed so much. So she got pt, messaged...I guess.
Thanks for the update...was wondering how "mum" was doing.
Today was a beautiful day. I’ll leave it at that.
💪😌❤️💃
...and we pray for many more beautiful days for your Mum and yourself.
Strength to you mate, your Mum raised a fine son.
💪🙂❤️💃

Mum was eating her lunch and I said “You’re nearly finished, then you can have strawberries” to which she replied “Doesn’t matter… It’s fucking shit”. 😃😂🤣😂🤣💃
Yes! A sense of humor!
Who's your Mum rooting for? Jett? Hunter ? Im guessing both..
She’s actually only a fan of Roczen (she adores him and his family) but enjoys watching the racing and does tend to cheer for Jett. She’s from the French speaking part of Belgium (her, my dad, brother and sister, came over to Aus in ‘78) and I was born here.
💪😌❤️💃
A little Ken Roczen never hurt no one. Your mom looks right side effected. Is there any movement on her right side? Her vision looks ok? Aphasia? Strokes can be wildly different. If she's sitting up and watching the race, there's some great news.
Thank you for asking brother. Her right side is indeed not working properly. She had 7 surgeries on her right eye for a detached retina in ‘06/7 so her visions was already gone (got butchered and wasn’t successful) but, she has some ability/movement.
Mum never half arsed anything… Unfortunately this stroke too. The fact she is/was so fit, healthy, and active is a huge reason she is both still here, and making the progress she is.
Edited to add: And yes re aphasia. She’s doing better everyday in both French and English, it also doesn’t help that she still has yet to have her dentures back in but we’ll get there.
Edited again to thank everyone for the continued support and kindness. It means so very much.
💪😌❤️💃
Ezza, I don’t visit non-moto very often, so I hadn’t seen this thread yet. But I read every post and I’m still teared up buddy. I couldn’t be happier for you and your mom’s current situation.
I lost my mom unexpectedly a month ago and it’s turned my world upside down. So this thread is really tugging at my heart strings buddy, I’m so happy to see this thread tonight. ~ Shaun (Langhammx)
I’m so very sorry for your loss my brother and my deepest condolences to you and all your mum’s loved ones. I don’t have words but just keep charging,
