What's with the rider #'s in SMX next?

I found it really confusing how Jeremy Fappani was able to run the #2 in SMX next. Does anyone know what the rules are regarding numbers in that class?

Pretty sure since it’s an amateur race they can run whatever number they want. And yes, color scheme is hideous.

Yea white backgrounds just makes no sense anyways because thats universally used for the premier class/450’s.

They should do yellow plates like most intermediate classes or do black plates/yellow numbers
