My gf & me plan on driving up north to check out Round 4. According to this site ( http://www.getseats.com/resultsticket?evtid=1406306&event=Monster+Energ… ) the tickets under $75 appear to be crap. From the available tickets, which seating area would be the best? Also, Oakland is pretty damn Ghetto, well east oakland is. What neighboring cities is my best bet for a nice hotel at a moderate price and close as possible to the Alameda County Coliseum? Thanks in advance!

Serious? You are 15 mins or less from San Francisco, it has 100's of hotels from $45 to $1045 hotwire.com and you get to stay in an amazing city, plus leave your car at the hotel and take BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) to the SX, goes straight to the Coliseum.

I figured all the hotels in Frisco would be pretty pricey but I'll look into it.

...make sure you have locks on the gas cap and lug nuts!....

Just sayin'. The Coliseum is in a pretty ghetto area. Why'd they move it from Pac Bell park again? Better weather across the bay or some such horsepucky?

Have you ever thought that maybe they didn't have a choice on the move? or maybe Oakland cut them a better deal? so many factors that can play into this move.

Sir Francis Drake in SF is a pretty cool hotel. It has Harry Denton's Starlight room on the top floor.

I got a Holiday Inn downtown in SoMo in San Fran, close to the bay bridge, for $50/night thru a Priceline bid. I'm doing the BART thing from the airport to hotel to track to hotel to airport. Yep.

Stayed there two years ago and it was a nice place. Walking distance to the square and places to eat. Never have taken bart but I'm really not worried about parking in oakland.

I would say stay in SF and take the bart like most are saying or just drive up and stay some where else outside of oakland. You can find cheap places in daly city which is a little further away but that's up to you.

I'd recommend staying at a decent hotel on Hegenberger Rd, by the Oakland Airport.... Courtyard, Holiday Inn Suites (w/sports bar), etc., take a $5 taxi ride (1.2 miles) to and from the hotel to the coliseum and you'll be set. Never had an issue while staying in that part of Oakland, and I'm out there once or twice a month.

I scored front row seats in section 216 for $75, so there are some deals to be found for tickets.

The coliseum parking lot is huge and fenced in and the entrants are all blocked by the parking booth and security in the yellow jackets, your car will be safe.

Bart stops in the parking lot.

Hotels 10 minutes away in Emeryville.

Oakland is actually a sleepy town so there are really no bars to go to after the race.

The race is in Oakland because they sold out SF every year (44,000) and wanted more seating and the pits to be closer. But they are already talking with Pac Bell about next year.

Oakland seats 48000 and then they have add'l upper deck seats
