Hmmm, selling images from SX and MX...

Twice in the past two weeks I stumbled across photographer websites selling SX and MX images...

I know Paul Buckley sells prints, etc from back in the day and knowing Paul I think he has the approval from the select riders to sell their images.

But, these other sites I doubt have approval given the volume of images.

I pinged one of the sites and the shooter responded that his image of Shorty from Phoenix was OK to sell since it was a public event...

I doubt that a lot of $$$ is being made here but the riders rights should be respected.

Off my soapbox now....

Depends on the laws and rules. In public you can generally take pictures and sell them. If you use a model, you generally have to get them to sign a release. If the motocross track allows you to bring a camera in then you can take pictures and sell the pictures of the riders if they don't have a rule that states you cannot do this. To be honest, because the pros are allowed on the track, they get better pics and people on the outside of the track get pics that are are not that great and probably won't sell anyway so probably not hurting anyone.

Here is some good information.
