2023 Honda CRF250r making clutch lighter

I have a 2023 Honda crf250r and I race FTR, which is woods racing. My races are about 2 hours long, which is usually about 40-50 miles. I run a shorty clutch lever because I only like to use one finger on my clutch. I've been trying to find the best ways to make my CABLE clutch easier to pull and have less resistance. Have already done the new cable, all lubed up. I've heard that you can change the springs inside the clutch which is totally doable for me. I just want to know what the best springs to get are, specifically to make the clutch lever easier to pull. I've read about the Hinson springs, but it only says they're more durable and nothing about being lighter.

So use a full length lever and run it way inside of the grip and pull it from the end, get the leverage you currently don’t have with the shorty.

Pretty easy solution.

Don’t do Hinson springs as they will be stiffer. Oem is normally about as soft of springs as you can get. As others have said clutch lever placement can help. The last thing you can easily do is change the ratio on your clutch lever. Find a brand that offers different options. For me I changed to asv and got the lever that allowed different ratios.

1,000%. Your shorty lever is almost certainly the reason you have trouble. Don't throw away all that free leverage at the end of the lever. If you run the perch to the right a bit, you can use your one finger right near the ball end.

With lighter springs you are likely to get clutch slip or fade, depends how you ride though. Some people will use 2-3 softer springs, some can get away with all softer springs.

You can cut/weld a small piece to extend the clutch arm (lower cable anchor) that'll give you more leverage.

+1 the comments about the shorty lever, more leverage is your friend.

Also experiment with lever location, height, and reach.

We haven't tried it out yet (we live in Iowa) but my rider wanted the same, a lighter pull, so we changed to a Magura Hymec hydraulic clutch.

Hooks up the same as a cable.
