Hello everyone,
I came across several articles about the ride engineering lowering link and how much it made the KX450 2023 handle better.
I know that every change that makes an improvement most of the time affects performance elsewhere,
but in the articles no one talks about the negative effect of the link.
Are there any experienced with the lowering link who can give an opinion on the changes?
Thanks!
Shai
Have you ever read product reviews that shared negative feedback? I don't know if any exist. 🤣
I had a '21 KX 450, if I'm remembering correctly (it's been 4 years), it cornered good on flat corners. So I don't think it was a ride height issue.
However, I did think it could be improved in rutted corners. It tips in good and follows the rut but for me, the power delivery wasn't great for maintaining balance in choppy corners.
The motor was soft down low but would hit hard in the middle, so it required a lot of clutch finesse to keep balance while accelerating, especially if trying to recover from hitting a bump or rock during apex.
The clutch had a narrow window, basically an on/off feel, which made it more challenging to modulate.
Changing the gearing and mapping was an improvement. I went to a 52 on the rear and played with the mapping tool to increase low end power, which resulted in better cornering.
