Predictably, the energy drink space continues to consolidate, which will increasingly reduce the pool of potential sponsorship dollars from this sector. Will be interesting to see what the end game is for Rockstar, the company. For those at work who cannot view the link, Rockstar has hired the banksters at Goldman-Sacks to look for a shill, er, uh, pansy, er, uh, potential buyer for the company.

Do dogs go to heaven too? lol

Just because Rockstar is up for sale, does it necessarily follow that they won't sponsor mx any longer? People state weird reasons for selling, it may be because the guy just wants out while he has made a load of money.

I understand. Never said they won't. Russ is probably just looking for some liquidity. Pretty normal for private business owners to do so. They are pretty imbedded and should be around until congress bans energy drinks. My point was that non-moto type companies can come in and sponsor and make an impact. I never would have purchased canidae until I saw them at SX. Decided to support them because they supported the sport I love.

regarding your first question, I don't know the answer, but I leave you with this quote "If I have any beliefs about immorality, it is that certain dogs I have known will go to heaven, and very very few persons." - James Thurber

Marketing themselves in the niche of motocross is what made Monster and Rockstar so big. If they went the mainstream route they would have been competing with coke etc in a very well established market, probably impossible to break into. Smart choice going with moto in my opinion for those brands at least. They are sticking to the same plan of attack to gain popularity in Australia but they have a long way to go here still.

We have brands like V and Mother here in Australia that wouldn't know what motocross is and I guarantee they'll get stomped by Monster over the next few years.
I don't think they made it big by just marketing themselves in the niche of motocross. it is the Action Sport market that they went after, including bmx, skate, surf, motorsports. MX is a small part of that action sport way of life and consumers.

From there, yes they definitely grew but the majority of teens can relate to that action sport lifestyle in a way or another.

It wasn't moto only in the beginning.

How someone has decided that this means Russell is in trouble is beyond me.

If someone is looking into an IPO, a strategic sell/merger...and is in good enough shape to be "represented" by G/Sachs for such activity...well...it ain't a bad thing.

Did everyone miss the point about Pepsi & Dr. Pepper bein' likely "suitors"? (Both Co's have a strong presence in the Rockstar distribution network).

No worries; 'cause, if it goes IPO...I'll be interested.

I'm jus' sayin'...

In Rockstar's case: It was M&E(Concert tours, etc.) and then a pretty strong push into extreme-sports/motor-sports.

The show will go on without Rockstar. Video game makers would still be in the game had promoters not pissed them off....(EA SPORTS loved us until the THQ US Open was announced back in the day.) Feld (PACE, SFX, CCE) found a loophole and allowed THQ in after they bought the US Open even though EA was the SX sponsor. Arrogant move, bit them in the a$$.

I always say never burn bridges in this industry....

OK, Mr Sepkovic, it is time for you to find the next big corporate sponsor!
Are you Ivan's brother?

I know we switched to Canidae dog food for our dogs because they supported moto. So that is one outside sponsor that worked for us atleast.
I actually recommend that to anyone that mentions switching their pet's food!!

No, I am not: it is just a case of homonymy.
