2009 Crf450x exhaust?

Edited Date/Time 1/27/2012 3:35pm
Hi, i recently got a 2009 crf450x and in the near future i would like to put an exhasut on it. I will just get a slip on for now and maybe get a header later down the road. I was looking at either getting the fmf factory 4.1, the fmf q4 or the pro circuit t-4. I was wondering how much louder each one is frrom stock and which one has the best power gains, i do all trail riding and jumps and stuff idf that matters. I want one with a nice sound but not extremely loud. Its mainly between the 4.1 and t-4. thanks

p.s - I am also planning on getting some asv levers in red. they have a november special on where you get both a pro clutch and brake lever, dust covers and a rotor clamp for $179 as apposed to $240. DO you think they are worth it?

nothings wrong with it, i would like a better sounding pipe and a bit more power. also i hear that the 450x is choked up and will breath much better wih an after market exhaust. ANd it is much lighter. I will also be doing a the air box mod sooner or later as well

Aftermarket exhausts are a complete waste of money for the average rider. 99.99% of riders can't use all of the power of a stock bike, let alone a modded one. Save your money and spend it on suspension mods, riding gear and maintenance products. Seriously.

man chill out, i wanted anew exhaust for sound also, it was just as well to get one with power increases at the same time. Its my money ill spend it how like. i already have riding gear and oil and other stuff like that for maintenance is cheap. and i dont need to do my suspension casue i like it the way it is.

IMOboth are great systems, FMF is having a big sale now, they will be a little bit louder, but will beef up the midrange, some come with inserts or spark arrestors, kinda mellows out the bike(you can t go wrong either system, but the fmf price might save you money for other goodies) I swear by works connection elite perch, teflon sleeve, but asv products are good, but i m a works connection fan, just keep the persches snug, and in case you fall they will just move instead of break! I guess TerryK had a bad experience with aftermarket companies, he must the only person i know that has stock everthing!

Chill out? I didn't think I was non-chill. lol

I was just giving you some advice (since you asked for it). And yes, it is your money and you can spend it how you like, but imo buying an exhaust that is louder than necessary just for the reason of "better sound" and more power that you will NEVER use is a complete waste of money. Spending that money on suspension upgrades is a far far wiser investment. Better suspension you can use, more power, not so much.

Ask any pro rider if a beginner rider should spend money on motor mods of suspension. Go ahead, ask.

Ah yes, last time we rode together I told you my life story?? Oh thats right, even though you say you know me, we have never met right? Dry

I don't have a problem at all with an any aftermarket companies, but I do have an issue with people wasting money on shit they don't need that they think will make them faster. NO ONE exept for the fastest pros needs more power out of a 450, especially someone coming off a TTR230.

just because i came off a ttr230 doesnt mean i cant ride the 450 hard. and just becasue i dont use all the power doesnt mean i wont notice more power down low. and i dont care what a pro would say. i like my suspension how it is.

FMF is your best bet for power gains and sound. And id go with Sunline V1 Mdx levers.

Never said i knew you but all your comments say stay stock, thats cool for you, and your correct probably 2% in the world need more power, but riders like to mak,e their bike look and perform better, Its their money, I guess your whole bike is oem then! I guess all the B riders better have stock parts or their wasting their money! Riders spend money on the sport they love! Different strokes for different folks! You might be suprised what some good aftermarket parts will do. Suspension, perches, some of it is better quality than stock, not all because some oem parts are better than aftermarket, just gotta know what your lookin for.

Actually, you did imply that you knew me and what I have for my bikes and in this post you are guessing my bikes are all stock. There is no need to explain to me about aftermarket parts my good lad. In my many years of motocross, ice racing, drag racing and road racing I have used up more than my share of non-stock items.

For the third time I'll let you in on what I was suggesting. I was suggesting that the other poster spend his money on suspension rather than horsepower and noise producing products, neither of which will benefit his speed or riding ability. Please show me where I said he should leave his entire bike stock.

Its all good man, we all spend our money different ways, i agree suspension first, then other things if you have the money! No biggie I pay my own bills and make my own money. and you said you use aftermarket stuff, so why not let riders make their own decisions, they come here for some advice. Be safe riding man.

It has a hole in the end of it the size of a CRF50 exhaust(well not quite). The 250X and 450X benefit from an exhaust mod more than any bike. We do way more exhaust mods on X models than suspension mods. Most of the X riders can make the stock suspension work fine.

For your X, get with your Honda dealer and find the Honda Wrench Bulletin that goes over X mods. You can get rid of the air pump with a block off kit, open up the air box, do some jetting changes, and open up the stock exhaust(or replace with a slip on) and make it a whole new bike.

Thanks for the reply, what fmf exhaust would you reccommend. The 4.1 or q4? noise is not a huge issue, but i dont want it to be extremely loudd like a motocross bike(ex:450r) with a pipe casue they ar extremely loud. thanks
