I broke both of mine at the same time back in May, had surgery with rods put in both all the way from my knee to the hip. Rode the very end of October. It hurt to dab my foot in corners and stuff like that. I'd say 3-4 months is realistic for a kid his age if he got a rod put in and works hard in physical therapy.

Man, I hope you had the 2 for 1 coupon when you did that one...

I agree with GuyB's comment on listening to the docs. healing times are different and it is better to let things heal if one wants a long life in the sport. I took about a year to feel near 90%, I will never be 100%, but I can live with that, I'm functional right now and can ride, but still limp and feel the aches when the temperature dips. Oh, I'm 36 and I have known younger people to be back on their bikes sooner. Physio is advised as soon as can be tolerated especially a break close to the knee joint!

Dude with the two rods, ouch!! I had a hard time going to the bathroom with one leg you must have had some very close friends or family!!

The mental comeback is the worst part. The first double you see will challenge your mind knowing you just did months on crutch's. Start slow. Time will heal your minds wounds. The leg is the easy part.
