Mike Lewis a local race photographer has been shooting photos for district 11 races for years. While shooting at Dayton Motorcycle Club today Mike was hit by a bike and both the rider and he were carted off the track. I was just wondering if anyone knew the rider involved or Lewis, so we could get an update.

Lets keep these people in our thoughts and prayers.

Mike Lewis a local race photographer has been shooting photos for district 11 races for years. WOW. Mike is a good friend and a D-11 institution.

Please say a prayer for well known District 11 Photographer Mike Lewis. Mike had a very bad accident with a motorcycle today. As he was taking photos and motorcycle came over the biggest double at DMC and hit Mike head on at high speed. Both Mike and the rider were transported to Miami Valley hospital in Dayton. This is a excellent trama center, and I am told they were waiting for both of them when they arrived. Mike was concious, but in a lot of pain. My father is a member of DMC and I am told he had a couple breaks in his arm, broken leg, and other injuries.

Having known Mike at the races for years, he is a great guy. Please say a prayer for both him and the rider. I appoligize for t not knowing the riders name.

Thoughts and prayers go out to Mike. The rider suffered a fractured collarbone and a bruised hip. (Rider was Derek Fowler #48)

Mike has been a fixture in the district for years. Really sorry to hear this.

I am Mike's brother Bobby in Lancaster. Mike has a broken left leg,broken left arm.broken pelvis. He is supposed to go into surgery Monday. Chris is there with him and my brother Dan is enroute Monday also. Thanks to all of you who are praying for him. I will come in and post more when I find out more

Thank you for the update. This accident scared a lot of people, its a shame he got hurt but it could have been way worse. Hope to see him back out there shooting photos soon!

Prayer go out to the lewis family and the rider. Mike takes the most awesome photos. Hate to see that happen!!! I left early that day at DMC so did not see it. Hope everyone is ok and prayer sent

Mike made it through surgery. Left leg is pretty messed up. He will be confined to a wheelchair for at least 3 months. He may be released from the hospital on Friday depending upon how things look. They said his pelvis area has small breaks and for now they will leave that to heal on its own. Needless to say he will need rehab. Thanks again to all of you for your prayers. I will continue to provide updates.

Mike had surgery yesterday on his pelvis. It went well..more pins inserted. He is at Miami Valley Hospital Dayton,Ohio. I am not sure if he is allowed visitors yet since he is still in the trauma unit. If you do plan on visiting him you might want to call first. He will be there at least another 2 weeks. If you could send him a card I am sure he would appreciate it
