I recently picked up a 1986 KX 125. This will make the 4th KX 125 that I've had, 2001,1993, and a 1987. I really like the way my 1993 and 1987 turned out so and I somewhat regret getting rid of them. My plan is to go through this bike and build it pretty period correct. It looks to be a low hour bike, with some type of an aftermarket pipe. A quick review of the pipe, it looks like it might be a DMC. I'm pretty excited to get started on this thing. Now if I could find find some other old school parts to trick it out.

When I got the bike it had the engine out of the frame. It had the wrong kicker on it which put a hole in the clutch cover. I have the bike the rest of the way apart now and have started re-assembling.

My end goal is to have something pretty stock but with some period correct mods. I put some oversized bars on it with a set of original Answer bar mounts and pad but I will probably go back to a set of 7/8 bars. I would love to find some old school performance parts for it, DMC silencer, Roost Boost, stuff like that.
I didn't make too much progress on the bike this weekend. Between this, new finishing putting my KTM back together and lowering/tuning my car I have too many projects.
I did get a few parts sandblasted, this includes the pipe. I know it is some type of aftermarket pipe but the only markings on it is 77 on the mounting tabs. Anyone know what type of pipe this is? It had a stock silencer sadly welded to it, anyone have a silencer laying around for this bike they would be will to part with?
I made a small amount of progress over the weekend. New bearings in the swing arm, painted the motor, installed new engine seals and installed some of the plastic. I'm still waiting on some stuff from DC Plastic. I need to figure out how I'm going to repair the silencer, I fixe the part where it attaches to the pipe but the other end of it is worn. The aluminum piece is too large for the internals and it rattles. If I can't find a silencer I'll probably end up making one instead of repairing this one.
I've found a few cool pieces that I need to order still, fork guards and rear rotor guard/master cylinder guard. I'm not sure what I'm going to do for the seat yet, I've found a Tecnosel cover but Evo MX in Europe will also make a stock cover that has the gripper pattern like the old MXA covers. I think the gripper seat is probably the way I will go.
I can't make my mind up on the bars. Before it is all said and done, I'll more than likely go back to 7/8" with a cloth Renthal bar pad.
