Tiger Woods Dominance

Edited Date/Time 1/24/2012 3:28am
for those of you that don't think tiger's as dominant( or more dominant) than RC, chew on these numbers.

From golfworld

"That said, the odds I've found on a Website that surveys the betting lines of various legal operations seems to have a pretty accurate handle on the CA Championship. Tiger is the favorite at 10-11, with Mickelson at 16-1, Els at 22-1, Singh at 25-1 and Scott at 33-1.

OK, so you have to bet $11 on Tiger to win $10 while a $1 bet on Mickelson will earn you $16. Pretty much for the risk you take to win $10 on Tiger you can win $160 on Mickelson. Why, that's outrageous. And it pretty much accurately reflects the state of things right now in professional golf. Woods is not only playing golf on a different level than everyone else, he's doing math to a totally different set of rules. "

Another set of numbers to chew on- he's got 11 wins in his last 12 tournaments worldwide- the one non-win.... 2nd. This is against 144 players who realistically can win any given week.

Anybody that knows Vegas and golf will understand that worse than even money on a golf tournament is insane.

Tiger is unbelievable...remember how everyone said he was overrated when he started the tour?

i hate to say it...but Johnny Miller was the only one who got it right. He said Tiger would win more tournaments than anyone else ever would...and people said he was nuts.

Tiger's winning percentage is unreal. The only other guy who can reasonable lay claim to being as good as Tiger in that sport is Ben Hogan, but the circumstances were so different that it's really hard to compare straight up.

you don't have a clue about golf

Check some history and see if you can find some Vegas odds on RC when he was on top- I'll bet you anything you want they weren't close to Tiger's odds right now.

the bookmakers know, even if the dummies on here don't

Someone should post the video from last weekend at Bay Hill (I can't youtube at work) of Tiger sinking the putt on the last hole for the win.

Tiger was SUPER PUMPED!

He's such an unbelievable a$$kicker. It's like he's not human.

Yeah, Tiger is probably the greatest golfer ever, but it's still just golf.

They do different sports, for sure. I don't think RC's acheivements diminish Tiger's or vice versa.

If guts and danger are the determining factors, though, then this guy would make RC look silly!!!!

:D

First, a guy having a run in golf is about as amazing as a run in Jeopardy. Also, I'd doubt a few, if any, of these runs compare to what RC did in MX, which requires not only coordination and control, but also strength, stamina, psychological strength, health, training, etc., etc., etc.

I'm about tired of Tiger Woods. Golf? Big deal. It might as well be bowling.

Im not all in-heat for Tiger like lots of these drooling groupies on here, but played enough golf to know what he does is nothing short of incredible. He has fitness, natural skill, and a most importantly his mind stays focused even when he's under huge pressure and he almost always has a swing/stroke that will get it done.

The guy is a phenom for sure.

P[/quote:11cirev6]Yeah. I had a 7 handicap when I was playing regularly.

What does playing golf have to do with being impressed about people who play golf? When is the last time Tiger had to pick himself up from a 40 mph digger to retake the tournament??

Tiger could win every tournament out there but I will always be more impressed with RCs accomplishments.

RC's accomplishments are phenomenal. How hard is the game of golf. I highly doubt Tiger or any future golfer will record a undefeated season(RC had three?).

what person would compare RC to tiger anyways?

Hear hear!
Ben was da man! Whole different era for sure. You know he used to sharpen the edge of his clubs by dragging them on the pavement as he held them out the door while driving to the next tournament. Ben Hogan is hands down my favorite golfer of all time.

A truly great player with a remarkable comeback from a near fatal car accident. He is not exactly fondly rememberd by folks who met him though.

So you understand just how difficult the game is. Think about it. Tiger has been playing his entire life and he still isn't perfect at it. You guys also seem to forget just how many people play golf and this guy just happens to be the best in the world at it.

P[/quote:z3m58hwq]Yeah, golf is a difficult and frustrating game. I already said he is probably the best golfer ever.

But if we are comparing athletes side by side for some reason not obvious to me, I am more impressed with what RC has done on a motorcycle by leaps and bounds over anything that Tiger has accomplished and could possibly accomplish in golf...sorry. The effort required and risk involved in winning so many MX/SX championships completely blows away the frustration involved in hitting a golf ball around on some nice grass [b:z3m58hwq]in my opinion[/b:z3m58hwq].

[quote="oldfart":19jegsiq] Now you wanna talk about a nice guy, Lee Trevino wins that one hands down.[/quote:19jegsiq]
I grew up in Corpus Christi and saw Lee Trevino all the time during the summer months when I was out of school. There was a old-school corner drug store on South Staples that had diner style grill thing in the back and the old style soda fountain setup. My friend and I would go to get a hand made Dr. Pepper (heavy on the syrup) and we would sit next to Trevino as he had coffee and was talking golf with his buddies back there. He always had a joke or a nice thing to say to us kids back then,, always had a smile too.

Next to him, you simply cant beat Chi Chi Rodriquez.
