I just used Rust-Oleum primer and paint on the engine, nothing special. I did some looking at their website and found that the temp range seemed high enough, but not super high. I'm not sure how often this bike will run after this rebuild anyway.
One thing that has worked great for me is their acid-etch primer. For aluminum it is a must, and for other parts you can get down to bare metal it really helps. For some of the deeper scratches, or if I want a nice surface finish I use filler primer as well.
Also, this isn't the first time I've used rust-oleum primer and paint on an engine, and it held up in the past, so I tried it again.

As for the spacer between the shock reservoir and the frame, I designed something then 3D printed that part and painted it. I couldn't find an off-the-shelf, good-condition one anywhere. I'd be happy to provide the stl file to be printed. Just dm me if you'd like it.
