How does this work? Ford is responsible for a worker backing over another with a forklift? Did the backup alarm not work or something? How does it become Ford's responsibility?

Ford Motor Company of Canada has pleaded guilty to two counts of failing to take all reasonable precautions to protect the safety of two workers, and the automaker faces a $850,000 fine as a result. According to The Canadian Press, an employee was accidentally crushed to death between two forklifts in 2008 at the company's Oakville, Ontario assembly plant. The worker was standing beside one of the lifts when another worker reversed a separate forklift into the individual.

In a separate incident one year later, a lift truck driver was crushed to death between a loose pallet and the vehicle while driving down a narrow storage aisle at Ford's Bramalea, Ontario parts distribution center.

Ford was charged for the violations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and is being charged with an additional 25 percent victim surcharge in addition to the $850,000 fine.

I really can't understand what you're getting at.

Do you really think that any of this is out of the norm?

Time's have changed
Our kids are kids are getting worse
They won't obey their parents
They just want to fart and curse!
Should we blame the government?
Or blame society?
Or should we blame the images on TV?

NO, blame Canada
Blame Canada
With all their beady little eyes
And flappin heads so full of lies
Blame Canada
Blame Canada
We need to form a full assault
It's Canada's fault!

Don't blame me
For my son Stan
He saw the darn cartoon
And now he's off to join the clan!

And my boy Eric once
Had my picture on his shelf
But now when I see him he tells me to fuck myself!
Well, blame Canada
Blame Canada
It seems that everythings gone wrong
Since Canada came along
Blame Canada
Blame Canada

There not even a real country anyway

My son could've been a doctor or a lawyer it's true
Instead he burned up like a piggy on a barbecue
Should we blame the matches?
Should we blame the fire?
Or the doctors who allowed him to expire?
Heck no!

Blame Canada
Blame Canada
With all their hockey hubbabbalooo
And that bitch Anne Murray too
Blame Canada
Shame on Canada
The smut we must stop
The trash we must smash
Laughter and fun
must all be undone
We must blame them and cause a fuss
Before someone thinks of blaming uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuusss

I'm sure they looked at the forklifts and dinged them for each item that wasn't proper; back up alarm, seat belt, fire extinguisher, etc. Then they probably looked at employee training records to see if the operators were properly certified, and if this was a repeat violation the cost multiplies quickly.

It is hard for an employer to have no fault in a worker fatality.

Exactly.

I see nothing out of the ordinary here.

This happened on one of are jobsites all though the guy wasnt killed he was fucked up pretty bad......All the OSHA big wigs were out there and after finding out that every thing was up to standards with the g eneralthey said it was the carpenters fault for walking behind the forklift. They are always messy situations . Construction accidents with heavy equipment are always nasty .
