Anyone ever try it? Did it help with scratches etc and actually hold up? Just got a shiny new helmet and I haven't had a gloss helmet in forever so I was going to try to do it myself. I mostly race offroad so my helmets get pretty torn up from limbs and things so I was hoping this would help.
The stuff that they sell will help a little . The stuff they Do Not sell would definitely do the job . Cerakote has some that they make for UPS to use . The big brown trucks get scratches from tree branches ect so they made to that fills the scratches . Its just a thicker version of what you can buy . I have some they gave me to use on my Offroad Crawler . . With that said the stuff you can buy will keep it looking shiny and easier to clean .
I use cerakote ceramic “trim coat” on my bike. It definitely stays cleaner especially under the fenders. Try it!
Yeah I ordered a DIY kit and I assume I'll just have to reapply it somewhat often.
We have a local company that delivers cement. Big bright red and yellow trucks. They always look pretty good. One of their drivers told me that every morning they wipe the rucks down with lemon pledge. It makes the tree branches slip over instead of scratching. I wonder if a application of SC1 prior to riding would help with scratching?

Just make sure to drop it in the dirt first.
I can guarantee you I’m not doing that 😆
Expert in coatings near you is Aristocrat Detailing. Jesse rides moto and off-road too. I’ve used him several times on sprinter builds and on the ATC toy haulers I sell. He’s a good dude!

Ceramic isn't necessarily going to reduce scratches. It'll make your helmet shinier (higher gloss) and more hydrophobic. Dust won't stick to it as much, either. You'll also get solid UV protection. I wouldn't opt for a professional grade coating for an mx helmet personally.
That's a sweet looking helmet!
Well I gave it a whirl tonight and it looks amazing if you ask me. We will see how it holds up but it was super easy to do being a brand new helmet. Maybe took me 10 min.
Looks good, I was worried about scratches when I got my new SE5 too and of course the first race I wore it we were riding super tight pine trees with face slappers everywhere.
That being said if I told my dad I wanted to coat my helmet so it doesnt get scratched from branches I would never hear the end of it lol.
Looks great
I had my car professionally done and it really is amazing how well it works.
I have a red 2005 Honda S2000 that I'm thinking of having done. How much is reasonable and sounds like you think it is worth it.
Not that I’ve had it done professionally but that depends on the condition of your paint now. The prep is where the money is as they will clay bar, polish, then coat it. You’ll definitely spend several thousand to get it done even if it’s in pretty good shape now. I do a lot of this stuff (minus the ceramic until now) and it’s a ton of work.
I had my brand new Honda CRV done and although it’s new, there’s still a full day to do prep work, before coating.
I did the full job with windows, wheels, brake calipers and complete exterior with Ceramic Pros gold package and it was $2100 for the lifetime warranty. The warranty requires a once a year visit for $150 to keep the warranty valid.
Pressure wash it off and dry it with a leaf blower, it lasts 4-6 weeks without washing it. It really is nice…
There is a 3 year plan, 5 year plan, 7 year plan as well and are priced accordingly. I think the 3 year was like $1200
You’ll need to wash it yourself, the drive through car washes scratch the paint and void the warranty.
here’s some info where I had mine done-
