Some interesting history below....from what I consider the greatest era of our sport.
From Dirt Bike Magazine (June 24)
There are so many connections in this 1984 Anaheim Supercross image. "I was probably thinking I should have signed that Honda contract after Yamaha pulled all the factory bikes for 1984," Broc Glover chuckles. Behind him, Yamaha factory mechanic Jon Rosenstiel holds Glover’s bike while Jon R’s stepson, Warren Reid, sits on his factory Yamaha. His brother and mechanic, Wayne, stands to Warren’s right with good friend Mike Beier off to his right.
Just seconds after the gate dropped on this race, Reid was lying in the middle of turn one with a badly shattered left leg that would keep him out of racing until mid-September. With no money coming in for nine months, Reid explains, "Luckily, I raced Saddleback CMC the weekend before Anaheim, and I managed to beat Hannah for the overall. When I went up to get my CMC prize money, I got my first-place money, and they gave me another envelope. Hannah told them to give his money to the winner. That extra cash helped a lot."
