2006 rmz 450 engine help

came out of a berm this am and heard a loud bang and killed it really quick. the kick start was locked up but when i pushed it backwards while in gear it free'd itself up a little bit. now when i push on the kick start i can hear the piston hit at the top of the stroke. i pulled the spark plug and it was smashed in to the white on it. what do you guys think happened? new top and bottom end have 10 hours on it

It's gotta come apart period.

You'll have a better chance of figuring which broken part is at the beginning of the "failure train".

Take pix as you go and post 'em here.

This sounds like one of those infamous 4-stroke failures that continue to blurr that line between operating costs of 2 vs 4 strokes.

if you need parts i have a used head (no valves) and cylinder. When is the last time you reset the cam chain tension? By the sounds of it though it's to late for your bikes engine!

Sounds like your timing may have been off and you bent a valve into the spark plug. No good. Was it backfiring before it grenaded? Shine a light into the s/p hole and see if you can see anything.

The bottom end is most likely still good unless something fell into it and you ran it. Idk though you might want a "professional" to look at it. Like a real professional.
