Appearantly he had surgery on his wrist as recently as last week in Pittsburg, PA. This guy who works in the office said he was refered there by Broc Hepler, the guy isn't a big MX fan and didn't realize who he was talking to at the time.
I'm not sure how long the recovery is but it's getting close to time for the East SX, I hope he's ready.

Is a link available to more info, or does anyone know what was said by Villo or somebody in his posse? This is all I could google, and it appears (from his trainer on 1/3) that the surgery was awhile back:

I'll try to ask the guy for details today, it was brought up in a general conversation and I didn't think much of it until later when it reentered my mind. If it was infact last week, RV will be cutting it close.

Tedesco - during the San Diego SX webcast - said he got surgery on his hand in Pittsburgh last week too.

Maybe they confused him with RV somehow, or maybe Broc is getting referral fees.

This injury actually was one that he had a couple weeks back, and then went on to have surgery earlier last week.
It is still up in the air if he will start in Atlanta.
