Piece of junk! I had my old xbox for years w/no problems. This one, 5 months and the red rings of death.
Has this happened to anyone else? Microsoft will fix it for free, but seriously, I've read that something like 30-40% of 360s get this. Some guy I know at work sent his back 4 times and it still broke the first time he used it. I think he gave up and got a wii.

My PS3 has been pretty good. No Red Ring of Death, no overheating. Now that I think about it, I've had no problems at all.
Anyways, that sucks dude. I'd be really pissed if Sony had problems with the PS3 and I happened to get one of the lemons.
She worked for the XBox team at that time.
Mine got the red circle of death the week before last, though.....
Just got notice that it's being shipped back from MS today. Hopefully all is well with it. It was out of the "warranty period", but for the red circle of death they go back three years or so.
shoulda got a ps3.

Just another case were PS3 and 4-strokes are better...
If I would have gotten the PS3 for the same price as my 360 (free), then I would have one....

My 360 has been left on for periods longer than that often (kids changed the TV channel and forgot to turn off the console), never had a problem either. Til one day it just lit up red.......

8 hours? That's it? Hell, I leave mine run for days at a time without shutting it off. I'm one of the million+ PS3 owners participating in that Stanford Folding at Home thing.
Last night I was having some SERIOUS issues. I guess a tornado in the area will do that!
I actually was able to play a little MX, but it wouldn't let me on COD4 at all... I could sign in ok, but when I'd go to "find a room", it'd boot me.
I posted here when it happened and was getting ready to take it back to Walmart when all of a sudden it started working flawlessly again. The only thing I changed was laying it down (it had been upright).
That was about 3 months ago and I haven't had a problem since. Some people have said that it will do that if there are loose cables and I'm thinking maybe that was the problem with mine.
Oh well. I bought the 360 for Untamed anyways, and Untamed has been kind of a let down so if the 360 ever does actually break, I won't be too upset.[/quote:cvzo1y9c]
I'd stand it back up again and hope that it goes permanent TU, then get it updated before they stop paying for it......
