Riders in NC , VA , MD , WV - Check out the e-mail I received regarding a New track that is the works . Any help would be great .

" Thank you for taking the time to read this message, regarding the proposed Governors Run Sports Park. An application to build a state of the art facility in King William County, VA has been filed. This facility would eventually incorporate multiple dirt bike and atv courses, mountain bike and bmx courses and other outdoor sports related facilities. The initial building phase would revolve around two different skill level MX type courses, and the related buildings, parking, etc. to support the tracks.

The facility is to be built on a parcel of land which is 327 acres in size. The desire is to offer a facility that will be open to the areas riders far more frequently than any of the other tracks in the central VA area. In addition to scheduled competition weekend races, the tracks would be open on some weekdays, and non-competition weekends, for practice, training, etc. The desire is to become a valued part of King William county, and a good neighbor to all, while at the same time providing a variety of outdoor sports and entertainment.

At this time significant opposition to the building of the park is being encountered. The concerns of the opponents are being researched and responses and changes formulated to try and secure their support, or at least, to decrease their opposition to the proposed park. Many of the concerns are born out of ignorance about the sport of motocross, and a lack of understanding of the family aspect of the sport.

Anyone that would like more information about this project, please let me know.

We need help in gathering support for this proposed park. We especially need the help of King William County residents. If you are a King William county resident, and would like to assist in anyway, please e-mail me back, identify yourself as a King William resident, and let me know you would like to help. If you are directly involved with dirt bikes, ATVs, etc., or your family is, please let me know that also.

If you would like to assist, but are not a King William County resident, please e-mail me back, and let me know you are interested in volunteering to help, but that you are not a King William county resident.

If you have friends or relatives in King William, that you can discuss the facility with, that would also be most appreciated.

If you feel you have any particular skills that you would like to share, or that you would prefer to help with, such as public speaking, letter writing, etc., please notify me of that.

Here is our chance to have a nearby, modern, state of the art facility, to enjoy with our friends, families and neighbors. We need YOUR help to make this happen!

Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you,

Marshall Campbell, on behalf of KW Morrison, LLC

they need to get that ^ and going.
327acres is small compared to Carolina Adventure World that is on 2600acres(http://www.carolinaadventureworld.com) BUT atleast they are willing to work and get a motocross facility.

Yeah,

Let's all do something to help this facility and any others that run into resistance.

How about instead of writing letters to government officials we start by pressuring the AMA to REALLY do something about noise?

If the people opposing this facility happan to run across the "Four Srokes sound like Shit" post it is probably a lost cause.

CAW is no where close to being where it should be. ive heard they are building a large, national style track, section by section , supposedly to host a national sometime in the future. youtube caw, you should see a few vids and an interview with their "track designer"...quite humerous.

This goes to show that bike noise has a direct effect on our ability to ride:

KING WILLIAM -- Opponents of a motocross raceway under consideration in King William County packed a Board of Supervisors meeting last night.

[b:1nc02mua]Almost 200 opponents applauded speaker after speaker who told the board that the track would be a bad idea.

"I think the board understands the feeling of everybody out there that you do not want a motocross track," said board Chairman C. Thomas Redd III.

Speakers said a track would compromise the county's rural quality of life and undermine the value of surrounding real estate.

"This is a shame we have to deal with such a thing," county resident Leon Brooks said.

"How do we want future residents to view King William?" resident Bob Hubbard asked.

Developers withdrew their original proposal to build up to four motocross tracks and a campground on 327 acres north of Central Garage. Bob Fauteux, one of the developers, cited opposition at an information meeting hosted this month by the developers.

Fauteux said he and his partners more palatable to local residents. They have yet to resubmit a plan.
