Dungey vs. Pourcel - 2009 MX Lites

Dungey is 3.285% better than Pourcel. Negligible.

Pourcel wins 14 motos and finishes 15 times ahead of Dungey.


Dungey wins 7 motos and finishes 10 times ahead of Pourcel (including Pourcel's DNF).


Pourcel is the king of moto 1's for the first 5 races : he can't ingest food on race day due to his stomach problems and typically fades on moto 2's (only twice does he win a moto 2 without having won the moto 1 of that day).


He has three 1/1's to Dungey's one 1/1.


Dungey never finishes worst than 8th (once).


So does Pourcel (twice)... except in Southwick (DNF/11th).


Conclusion : Southwick DID kill Pourcel's chances to win that championship (both motos did, not only the DNF).


Pourcel was quite often the faster man but Dungey was determined, strong and fast also.


He never had a bad day, and eventually prevailed.


He is the legitimate 2009 AMA MX 250 Champion.
