Can we keep this civil and just discuss the trial itself? It’s too big of a news story to just ignore. Donald Trump will be on trial, beginning today, for the charges brought against him for his alleged wrongdoing for fraud and hush money payments. This is the least serious of his four major criminal trials. Multiple news organizations have live updates to follow. I won’t post them here.

The trial will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday until its completion. This is the first time ever a former POTUS has been put on trial in a criminal case.

Such a big news story. An accounting irregularity at best that the statute of limitations ran out long ago. BTW, just like every other fake trial they are creating, things they are charging Trump with that no person has ever been prosecuted before. You're right, it's a pretty big news story because it's political persecution that's going on in our country that the lame stream media is promoting.

Misdemeanors deceitfully elevated to felonies.  It's not a crime trial, it's the trial that's the crime.

Aren’t these charges based on Federal Election laws that The Federal Gov’t decided to NOT prosecute?

What state is this in…again?

Who here, honestly, believes this IS NOT politically motivated?

It’s a huge news story. Literally never happened before. Not all trials are fake just because you like the person who is on trial. This is not political persecution, no matter how many people try to claim it is.

"Trump is a scum bag that deserves to go to jail!"

"It's all just a political game, all Democrats are scum bags that deserve to go to jail!"

"You're wrong because I blindly follow everything the Republicans and the media they own tells me to!"

"You're wrong because I blindly follow everything the Democrats and the meida they own tells me to!"

I don't believe I missed anything that is going to be discussed further, go ahead and lock the thread and save some folks their Monday afternoons for something more productive.

Remember, its called a Non disclosure agreement (NDA) when anyone other than Trump does it. But it sounds more incriminating when called "Hush money".

Calling this a “hush money”  trial is misrepresenting what it really is.

The facts are, it's at best an accounting irregularity. Even if that were an issue, it would have been a misdemeanor where the statute ran out years ago. You know like letting the clock run out on Hunter's tax evasion/fraud. But DA AB had to claim it was to "hide" a felonious NDA to allow him to file charges. However, the feds were entirely OK with it after they investigated whether is was actually a crime.

Let’s focus on this one case. Nothing more. No whataboutism or this or that.

Michael Cohen is going to testify that Donald Trump directed him to pay 130K to Stormy Daniels so she would not go public before the 2016 election. They then, allegedly, committed fraud to cover up that money trail. Much more serious than an accounting error.

All top witnesses in this case, like the other three, are almost all lifelong Republicans. Kind of pokes a hole in the Biden political persecution witch hunt theory.

Do they have enough to convict in a jury of Trump’s peers? That’s what the trial is for and we will find out. Hoping we can have a civil discussion here as it unfolds.

that doesn't even make sense. 100s of stars have paid "hush money" for suits to go away. Since forever. There's nothing "top secret" about it, nor any need to hide the paper trail. "Yeah, I paid the bitch $130k to shut up. so what?" is the answer. Somehow you have concluded that this is a felony worth pursuin?

Anyone too dense to see what a joke this entire thing is, isn't worth the effort to talk, or listen, to.

biden's own DOJ didn't want to have anything to do with the waste of time that it is.

Sounds like the difference from 100s of stars to DT45 is they didn't use campaign money or try to cover it up afterwards.

I thought the issue was "business" money being used for a "personal" matter.

At this point I don't give a shit, pardon the man, drop all pending charges, let him run for POTUS unfettered just to make all of the crying stop. I am just tired of all the who's side did what, who fucked who over, what president was stronger, noise... Hint, they all  suck and not one actually gives a shit about us as a people.

If Trump wins, great. If Biden wins, great. I'm just going to be over here worried about the things I can control, and bullshitting with you guys about moto and life things.

But let's be honest here, Trump needs these cases to be pending so he can use it as a campaign fundraising tool (help me fight the swamp stuff), and it's working out very well for him. Kudos on that.

Just a thought, If Stormy signed the NDA then went on to talk about it, doesn't she legally owe Trump money? That's how NDA's work.

After all the nonsense charges and lies the last 6 years have brought out ,I'll continue to be skeptical of this one too. There's actually criminals that need to be taken care of .

Some questions about the trial to keep this thread on topic....

Is this the time they are actually gonna get him?

I can't keep up, but I feel like the folks who don't like the Bad Orange Man have been pretty confident that "he's going down" in several previous trials right?

How many times now have we heard "we got that bastard this time" only for nothing to happen and meanwhile some seriously nefarious shit is going on behind the scenes?

Is it just coincidence that this shit is going down right while we'er on the verge of war with Iran or is all this all just a little too convenient?

There are those of us that can see it’s not about substance…it’s about keeping him in the courtroom.

Hence, we see how pathetic it all is.

Are we talking the same Michael Cohen that told his previous attorneys that Trump didn't know anything about it? The same Michael Cohen that told his previous attorneys that he had "no dirt" on Trump? The same Michael Cohen that is a serial liar? Maybe it's a different one that your talking about because for sure you'd never hang your hat on that proven serial liar for your case. Or are you trying to imply that they found Trump's laptop and it had all this self incriminating information in it that he could not refute? Because I don't think they ever go t into Trump's laptop. Nope, that didn't happen, just some serial liar making up stories. What exactly is the crime you speak of here other than the actual trial? Now that's a crime, they call it political persecution. You know "election interference".

A bunch of minor misdemeanors that the statute of limitations has expired on, strung together as a felony, based on a supposed crime that had yet to be revealed by bragg.
