I need a better camera for shooting kids sporting events (football, etc...). My current digital is a Nikon Coolpix 950...great camera for things fairly close, but a bit slow to capture action, and not too good if stuff is more than 20 feet away.
The Canon Rebel XTI seems to get some great reviews, both online and some of my wife's soccer mom friends. No matter which camera I get, I will most likely also pick up a 70-300mm lenses with image stabilization.

I dont't know if you know but shooting with a semi-pro camera is not just clicking, You must set your camera in the right mode and so on, It also depends on where you want to photograph, inside in a dark gym or outside in the sun? you can buy a Canon 70-200mm F2.8 for
